ShoutCast BroadCasting. URGENT!!!

Hello everybody,

We are trying to use shoutcast to broadcast the court sessions of Brazilian Superior Army Court (STM). I am now broadcasting the first session using shoutcast, but we're getting into serious problems!!!

The session is a 5 hour long continous flow of audio data, but after 3 min. or 6 min. of broadcasting the clients are kicked off!

What's happening? I am using the default sc_serv.conf file. Should I modify some parameter?

Please, this is quite urgent and I need some urgent reply!

Thanks,
Edward Ribeiro

Try this...

Hi Edward,

Open the SC_SERV.INI file in notepad, and scroll down to the line that reads:

ListenerTimer=

put a semicolon ( ; ) before this line. For example, set it to read:

; ListenerTimer=600

If the line already has a semicolon before it, then try reducing the bitrate. Perhaps it is timing out or buffering? If you get an older version of ShoutCast, you can go as low as 8kbps. Because you're just streaming "voice" (no music), I'd recommend streaming at 16kbps - which will allow good sound quality for speach, but allow a larger audience to listen.

Hope this helps! Blessings!
