LAN problems....
I'm probably going to get shot down in flames, but....
I am have an internal company LAN, with no internet connection, I would really, really like to have a streaming mp3 server to while away the long hours at work, as do most of my collegues. Is there any chance that without an internet connection, I'd be able to do it with shoutcast? I get [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak) at the moment. Is there a way of setting the server to be a "private" server, rather than a public one? If anyone has any suggestions of another server then it would be much appreciated!!! (Excluding Windows Media eeeggghhh!!!) Thanks |

there is a way to make it private by going to your shout cast plug in on winamp, click on the OUTPUT tab and click on YELLOWPAGES and just below that button should appear a check box saying MAKE THIS SERVER PUBLIC (RECCOMENDED) un-check that and it isnt public. could you copy and paste the whole log from the server so i can have a better look at it.

You can keep your stream all within the lan.
Host the DNAS on a lan pc. Host the winamp/DSP combo on the same or different lan pc. Connect the winamp/DSP combo to the DNAS. To listen, connect to the DNAS using winamp on the same or different lan pc. Ignore any nak errors in the DNAS log. If you want to host the DNAS and/or winamp/DSP combo on a pc outside the lan, then you will need some sort of connection (Internet or otherwise) between the two. |

Thanks isuck & festerhead, I'll have a try on monday, and see how I get on. Sounds a bit more promising than the FAQ's that I've read up till now.
