Makin' it work
Sorry in advance if this has been asked a thousand times...I did read through the FAQs and such first...
I installed the DNAS software on a Linux distro and my goal is to be able to stream MP3's out to the people I choose. I am able to select and play the following from my Windows Winamp client: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8000/content/scpromo.mp3 but I can't seem to figure out how to simply point to port 8000 and roll...when I point to: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8000 I get: [dest: my.client.ip] server unavailable, disconnecting I noticed something about a playlist? Is that what I am missing? and if so, how do I create one? any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!! Hoody |

On-Demand streaming:
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8000/content/scpromo.mp3 and Live streaming: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8000 are two COMPLEATLY different functions. If you don't have a live stream connected to the server (SHOUTcast DSP or like tool) then the above link WON'T work. What I think you are trying to do is to play everything in the content directory, which you currently cannot do with SHOUTcast. You would have to create your own playlist and host it on a web-server, or something. Or you can try one of the many On-Demand script thingies, like: http://www.radiotoolbox.com/mp3toolbox/ |

Yes you can, BUT you cannot host the playlist on the SHOUTcast server.
