can you stream live audio?

Hi

I often listen to a favorite FM radio station that broadcasts is both FM and unfortunately, Real Audio format. I want to suggest to the radio station to broadcast it's radio with Shoutcast, instead of, or in addition to Real's format. I do not know much about how broadcasting with Shoutcast works, and I do not know if it would even be possible (or easy) for them to broadcast the live audio of their radio station. Can you broadcast live audio, not just stored mp3 files with Shoutcast? I do not know what to say to them to convince them that there are advantages to using Shoutcast and Winamp in the first place. Could someone please tell me what I could say to them? Is there ample documentation available to tell them how to stream live audio with Shoutcast? Thanks for all your help. I appreciate your time.
