REQ: Skin (contest)

Dear ppl,

I was asking if someone is able to make us a winamp skin.
It's for our music sharing community (http://www.thenet-network.com)
Ofcourse all credits will be displayed on the website together with the download. And for rewards, there's always time to talk about it.

let us know,

Thanx in advance,

M.

p.s. to give an example what we like see the denon antique skin.

Hmm, I don't like skins like Denon Antique very much - I find them boring. So if I entered, it wouldn't be in that style. I won't enter unless you tell me that it's worth me entering. This is my latest skin (it's still unfinished). My older skins are in my sig - click them if you want to see them.

Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.

It all depends on the amount of ppl that join the contest. we only need 1 or 2 skins, so if many ppl have ideas we'll choose one out there and buy a gift ceritficate (we have to see about the value/price, right now we're thinking of a 20 dollar gift) on amazon or something like that.

p.s. it doesn't matter if you don't like the denon antique style skin.. it's what we like. and we're looking for something like that. (a stereo look)

you might get some people interested, but $20 isn't much at all. it can take weeks to make a skin. and i sure as hell wont spend 50+ hours to make $20.

I'd say if youre going to offer money for a skin then make it at least us$100.

Some people spend hundreds of hours making a skin, but i'd say the least ammount of time most would spend making a high quality skin would be 20 hours...Thats absolute minimum.

Its possible to make a skin in 10 hours, but the quality just wont be there...

Still, there are already a couple of denon style skins available...If you were to offer $20 to an author to use a skin they'd already made, im sure they'd jump at it.

you tell me, i only know what i want. you ever made someone a skin? what did you get back for it? did you ever joined a contest? what did you get in return for winning? but i can tell you as we are a non-profit organisation we can't pay $100 for a skin.

btw how hard is it to make such a stereo look design?

By all means, count me out.

Atmo is right. There are a number of skinners who specialise in Hifi skins (Wildcore from www.1001winampskins.com is the only name that comes to mind, but there are many). Get their emails/homepage addresses from the Hifi sections of classic.winamp.com and 1001, and invite them to the contest.

The last two contests to be held here are the yaxay.com skin contest and my own ORB skin contest. The yaxay contest is over - and the prize there was something like a year of free webspace - or the option to trade that in for $100US. The prize for the ORB contest (link is in my sig) is a music video made specially for the winner to their favourite song.

*ahem*, i'll do it for the $20 originally offered. ok, so i am not that good, and it probably won't be a stereo, but it might just look nice if you look at it from a distance.

thanx for all ur tips,

i mailed the one that made the antique skin and waiting for reply, since i browsed allmost the whole skin collection on winamp's skins area and couldn't find any better looking than that one besides the kenwood skin he made too. (not offending to other skinners, but it's just my taste).

again, thanx for ur help.

Cobalt -

after taking a quick look at your site, I'm left wondering what it has in common with the Denon Antique skin. I guess it is a style you like, but would you be the only judge?

no i'm not the only judge, our team is, and we discussed this issue already.. they all love the 2 skins (denon and kenwood, akane made)...
btw, (lets turn it around) when did a site have to look like a winamp skin? just imagine our logo into one of the skins and you'll see it looks nice (atleast for us it does)... that some of you have a different taste is fully clear to me.. but you don't need to try to convince me that your taste of "style" is better, it won't happen. we don't need a skin where you have to look if it's really a skin or just some object with an equalizer. The closer it gets to a realistic "stereo tower" the better.

if you like to see what i mean with the skins check our board.
