What is Winamp agent?

in winamp 2.8 what is the Agent(winampa.exe) do?

it runs when winamp doesnt, and gives u control to winamp when it is runnin. it also keeps other programs from taking winamps file associations. it uses almost no memory and no 0% cpu, just keep it running, its better that way.

it's a icon that goes in the system tray. left click to open winamp, right click to access bookmarked files.

you can also get rid of that icon.
options > agent > Show system tray icon
