For me, coding is a form of self-expression.

It's probably the form I'm most effective at.

Everything I code is arguably owned by the company.

I may be true to my title and be quiet most of the time (I've around here longer than most regulars), but this deserves comment.

I think this is great news. I can't wait to see Justin developing innovative (and hopefully free) software again without AOL breathing down his neck. If he sets up a website, I'll be the first to show my support and donate to him after he leaves.

Ooooh....keeping with the pirate analogy, if the captain jumps ship, will the crew have a mutany?

Basically, if Justin leaves, will the rest on them leave, forcing Nullsoft to be shut down, and then they can set up again out of AOL's control?

i visit the AVS forums...I am somewhat happy about this, now that he is on his own, he might do a new version of AVS for us b/c we haven't had one in years (and 2.6 does not count because it did nothing except snapping window sizes)

Another reason for his leaving may be because of Nullsoft WASTE - Nullsoft's attempt at a mIRC-like program(although it looks like it will have some nice stuff in it).

It will definately be a shame to see him leave, but if he decides to continue developing under his own time (such as if he quits and does shit without AOL) I'll definately follow him, and support him. Just in the past couple of releases of winamp, you can tell they were telling him things needed to be in there (the AOD for example). He's a genius at coding from what I can tell, and a genius should have freedom to do what they think is good, AOL restricts the freedom, thus he should leave. Good luck in the future justin, I'm sure you have many supporters in these forums, I'm one of them.
