Silent install

Perhaps you could update the winamp installation so it can be done silently and load our preferences so that it can be used in an unattended xp install cd
Cheers

This was implemented in Winamp 2.90

winamp290_full.exe /install=SFQDRA
switch for winamp.exe (which installs silently and
exits) (S=start menu icons, F=file association, Q=quicklaunch icon, D=desktop icon, R=fake registration, A=run winamp agent/set default)

I guess the same rules still apply.

Note, also try it with the Silent switch first:
winamp*_full.exe /S /install=SFQDRA

Sweet man thanks, I'd read quite a few sites regarding silent installs, and none of them could figure out the winamp one, but since its implemented already cheers for your response

EDIT: Is there any actual documentation on the switches?

Are these customizable? Meaning, can I do this:

winamp505_full.exe /S /install=SFR

if I don't want the other features (like Agent, quicklaunch icon, & desktop icon)?

Also, I heard whisperings of this feature not working...any news on that?

I'd like to bump this as a wishlist request, as the Silent installation hasn't worked in quite some time (did it even work in 2.90?)

No, it was never actually implemented. Justin once told me that it was in there, a few years ago, but I guess he never actually got round to it, heh.
The new devs fixed the /S switch for 5.1x, but that's as far as it goes for the nsis installer options, and afaik, it does work. What issue are you experiencing exactly?

The switch "/S" isn't really all that silent in 5.12 or 5.2 beta. I'm reposting information from here.

Clean install notes:

winamp512_lite.exe /S
winamp512_full_emusic-7plus.exe /S

1. Window titled "Winamp: User information" - select options, click the "Send" button
2. Window titled "Winamp install information" - click the "Run Winamp" button
3. Winamp launches - close Winamp

winamp52_0359_beta_full.exe /S

a. Window titled "Installer Language" - click the "ok" button to continue
1-3

Ideally silent installations shouldn’t require user input, or the closing of a program. If “/S” worked I could hypothetically silently distribute Winamp via SMS after agreeing to the Winamp Software Distribution Agreement without requiring user input.

Ok, we'll keep it to one thread then. Locking this one
