SLOW Winamp5 start and Media Lib.
Hello,
even after installing the 5.01 version, the start of WinAmp 5 takes a long time, probably 30 seconds. Version 2.91 started in 5 seconds. Is there nothing to do about it? Also very slow is adding, moving, removing and renaming playlists in the media library. It takes 20 seconds to rename a playlist. This really bugs me! My system: AMD XP 2400+ 512 MB GEforce 4 4200 WinXP All newest drivers Modern skin in Winamp5 Tim |

Well, I guess I solved the problem myself.
It was my virus-scanner. On each start of WinAmp the file gen_ml.ini was scanned almost 2000 times. Sure that this caused the slow startup. After I set the WinAmp directory on the exception list, even the media library became fast as hell. Tim |

Read this thread > Sonic Problem.
I'm running WinXP with no problems, but a few (not many) people with XP ran into the problem you have, and that problem is also mentioned in the thread I linked to above. If you need to disable the Sonic Engine, you would have to uninstall Winamp 5 first, then reinstall. But make sure you UNcheck the box for Sonic Ripping/Burning Support (under Audio File Support). See this screenshot...
Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads.
