problem with SOME .WMA streams

after searching on the forum I found how to listen to wma streams. I tried it, but it works not for all links:
mms://80.250.164.219/7button64k/.wma
mms://wm3.rbcmp3.com/nashe3/.wma
don't work, though work good in Windows Media Player. is there some problem with my settings or it is depends on server side?
can anyone check it?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I have WinXP SP1, WMP 9, WinAmp 5.01

Yeah, sorry, it's a WELL known bug, reported by me many many times.

mms:// support is borked.

Currently, in_dshow.dll is hard-coded to handle all mms:// streams.

In 2.81 and earlier, in_wm.dll handled mms:// streams

The workaround you referred to above (adding /.wma to end of url) was the workaround to get in_wm.dll to work, prior to Winamp 2.9x series (before video support via in_dshow.dll was introduced).

mms://80.250.164.219/7button64k/
This should work in 2.9x & 5.x without adding /.wma to the end of the stream,
ie. in_dshow should recognize & handle it.
It recognizes it, starts to buffer, gets to 100% buffering,
but doesn't handle it. Note, it just gets stuck in some kinda endless buffering loop.

Some mms:// tcp streams also support http protocol,
ie. replacing mms:// for http:// and adding /.wma to the end of the url
will make in_wm.dll recognize and handle the stream.
Alas, these 2 particular streams are mms:// only,
so the workaround here doesn't work.

The only way I can get those 2 streams to play in Winamp 5.01
is to close Winamp,
disable in_dshow.dll (by renaming to in_dshow.dll.off)
then reopening Winamp.

mms://80.250.164.219/7button64k/.wma
now works properly
and, after buffering is complete, you will see the streamtitle change to "World"

However, this now means you've got no support for AVI, MPG, WMV (etc) video formats. Though you'll still have support for Internet TV (NSV) via in_nsv.dll.
I guess you could circumvent this by installing a 3rd-party video plugin?

Yes, I agree, it's a mess.
And I really wish it could be sorted out,
so people no longer have to use the dreaded WMP any more.

Also note:
I'm using the non-crippled version of Microsoft WMA Input plugin from Winamp v2.5

DJ Egg, thanks for replying.
Yes, it's exactly the same problem you described (It recognizes it, starts to buffer, gets to 100% buffering, but doesn't handle it, just gets stuck in some kinda endless buffering loop.)
But such a bad things as endless buffering happens not always, i.e. sometimes it works (if I try to start this link constantly, then after around 10 fails, it works!)
unfortunately, your advice with renaming of in_dshow.dll does not work - in that case winamp just skips these links (though other links to wma streams continuing to work, like
mms://217.16.18.76/32K/.wma - works always!).
I also tested it with 2 versions of in_WM.dll (old and new ones) without any difference.
So, next suggestion?
P.S. even if this link (mms://80.250.164.219/7button64k/.wma) works (with in_dshow.dll switched on), I do not see streamtitle "WORLD" as if I would see it in WMP. Not a big problem, but probably it helps to find a problem (in my settings, if you say it works with your winamp ?)

mms://80.250.164.219/7button64k/.wma

This works for me if I disable in_dshow
and use the old in_wm.dll
as linked to/explained above.

Not sure why it didn't work for you?

Hmm, might keep trying mms://80.250.164.219/7button64k/.wma to see if I can get it to work with in_dshow. Note, I usually give up after 2 or 3 attempts, heh.
