If you can find a decoder anywhere on the internet, install it. Then at ;RGM in your DirectSound settings.

RGM & RSN are compressed GYM and SPC files.
What you'll need to do is: Rename them to RAR, then extract the GYM files. These will now play in Winamp with the GYM plugin from zophar.net I'm not sure, but the latest YMAMP plugin might support RGM, but if not, you'll have to unrar them, as above. The other GYM plugin is GYMX. Though as I'm not too familiar with either, you'll have to try them out for yourself to see which is best. Previously, the only known player that handles RGM directly is *******n (hmm, dead link, but there's an active d/l link on the zophar.net gym page) |

IZArc is an excellent freeware pack/unpack suite. It can compress 7-zip and decompress rar (among several others). Just give it a try. eeeee eeeeeee eeeee eeeee eeeee 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 88 8eee8 8e 8 8 8eee8 8e 8 8 8 88 8 88 8 8 88 8 88 8 8 8 88 8 88 8 8 88 8 88 8 8eee8 Last edited by amano; 28th March 2004 at 21:28. |

I used 7-zip before but was missing drag and drop support somehow. so I searched again and found IzArc. It does the same strong 7z compression as 7zip itself, has drag and drop and decodes rar and ace (7-zip is lacking the latter one). And it has drag and drop which is the biggest drawback with 7-zip. The only thing I cannot do with izarc is creating self extracting 7z files. But nothing is perfect...
(I checked with Ad-Aware and it found nothing bad in IzArc )

awesome.
yeah, i had 7zip and thought it would work, but for whatever reason it wouldn't do anything when i fed it the rar. how about rsn files? gbs? also, can i write these files to wav using diskwriter and then compress with lame, or is that a big no-no? |

yeah, i do.
i guess i'm wondering if it ACTUALLY counts as transcoding though. these playback files are tiny, but i doubt that's because they've already undergone audio compression. i mean, the sizes are more midi-like than anything, and i have no problem with the idea of writing midi signals to wav and then compressing it. |
