I noticed. I closed and re-opened WA a couple of times just to try and see is window (I updated too soon for 5.04 as well).

seeing as it wasn't updated after 2.80 for however long, i think a few hours can be given for an update since it's not fully live on the site yet

yeah i know that since i was the one who brought the topic up about the update option not working to the devs (hence the fix made for 5.04) - trying to do multiple things at once since the release is now live meant i missed that point out

/me goes back to updating web pages regarding jtfe, etc

I agree; I was just mentioning it before it went too long and it was forgotten. <edit> Just so you know, 5.05 was already posted on the main site at the time of my original post. </edit>

And, while there is not much to rave about, I'm glad that the fix came as quickly as it did and that it didn't screw up Winamp. 5.04 was excellent and 5.05 is just as great. Excellent job, once again, everyone.

But, hey, I´ll miss that "Doom 3 won´t run on my home computer. I have lost my will to live" title of the main site . It was the funniest in a very long time.

Never! Thank god Nullsoft fixed that to shut them up!

I think that a newer version number draws more attention and when 5.03a was out, in the main site the version number stayed 5.03, the "a" thing was not added to the image, I think. (and it was 5.04a instead of 4.04a right? )

I'm just wondering when someone will start whining about another version!

Originaly posted in the thread for 5.04....

The update lists "added disabling of "keep on screen" option when going into a different resolution because of a fullscreen application (ie: a game)" and "fixed windows moving after changing screen resolution." How exactly do I implement these? I have looked through all the menus and settings again and again and I cannot figure out how to do this. Every time the resolution is changed due to a fullscreen game, the Winamp windows are still moved out of position.

General preferences for "Disable always on top for FS applications"
As for the other one the change list says:

quote:
* added disabling of "keep on screen" option when going into a different resolution because of a fullscreen application (ie: a game)

It gives the impression that it is automatic.

The update lists exactly "fixed windows moving after changing screen resolution" which does sound automatic but does not work. It is certainly possible that these two entries in the version history were written poorly and do something entirely different from what I think. If this is the case, I wish someone who knows for a fact what those entries mean would explain them to me. In addition to that, I'd like to know if such a feature--that is, one that keeps Winamp windows from moving location to stay visible on the screen when a fullscreen application switches to a lower resolution--will be added.

You could try DrO's plugin called Display Change. It's still under development though and I didn't test it:

from memory zytrex has been refered to that plugin. and it needs work but i need to get gen_appbar working and then use that as a base for the new displaychange plugin (since that one was a very poor hack compared to what i know now).

Yes, the version I used, which was the most recent as of five or six days ago, didn't seem to do anything. I have noticed something interesting, though it is unrelated to the plug-in. My resolution is set to 1152x864. If I change it to 1024x768, Winamp stays where it was so that I can only see the top-left area of it. If I change my resolution to 800x600, however, Winamp move wildly out of position, with the main window and playlist no longer positioned above and below, but partially side by side, with one window a bit lower than the other. This is the same thing that happens when I play FFXI, which has a menu before the main game that runs at 800x600. I then set the resolution to 1024x768 and put Winamp in its position at the bottom-right of the screen. Then I changed the resolution to 800x600. This time it did not move. I have come to the conclusion that Winamp will keep its position when the resolution is changed as long as it isn't completely removed from the desktop area. This makes me wonder if Winamp is actually moving itself or if Windows has some mechanism designed to keep windows from being completely removed from the screen. If the latter is the case, this mechanism must be activated when the resolution is changed only, because I know I have fooled around with VB programs which were made to move off the screen, and Windows did not move them back.

I wonder if a patch could have been made to fix the problem without having such a large download. I'm just looking out for the guys on dail up. Maybe Winamp is trying to hide the fact that they had a security issue with their problem by having a whole new version instead of a patch?

Doesn't matter to me though as long as the problem is fixed

you already can do dvd with in_mplayer i thought (since any dvd playback would be provided by a new input plugin anyway)

DrO the in_mplayer plugin is not that user friendly :S

You have to open the dvds by url and I don't know if it supports menus :S (and aldo Media Player classic does the jog great I kind of liked to see it in winamp, just to keep it all together).

well isn't in_mplayer open source so someone can work on improving it? (not me though, input/output stuff isn't my thing really)

from memory in_mplayer was done to show that it could be done but due to Christophe leaving i doubt he'll be working on it now and so the opensourcing of it

it's a pity, just a menu next to play audio cd should be enough (that and the menus but that's too much to ask).

Well pity I can't seam to be able to start learning C++, every time I try I seem to get so stuck I can't even make an hello world program :?

i doubt that, considering we also put out a Security Bulletin right on the front page. also, it's in Nullsoft's best interest to let everyone know that they should upgrade, even if they have to let on that there was an exploit.
