Winamp 5.2 crashes upon attempting to run

I am running Win XP SP2 and am unable to run Winamp 5.2 because it crashes upon attempting to run. I was using winamp 5.13 before this, and I have upgraded each version of winamp as they have become available for years, with no such similar problem.

I'm including an image of the error message that I'm borrowing from another post... edit: removed screenshot

What does it say when you click "click here"?

AppName: winamp.exe | ModName: ? | ModVer: ? | Offset: ?

[edit] ohh, you removed your screenshot, heh [/edit]

A list of all plugins installed might also help to diagnose the problem
(c/o my_plugin_list.txt, see above link for info/instructions)

We might also need to see a HijackThis log, but at a guess, the problem is probably being caused by some 3rd-party plugin which is no longer compatible with 5.2, or possibly something to do with the new Portable Media Player support plugin/components (eg. pmp_p4s.dll seems to be causing a few problems for some users).

Hmm, there's been a few other reports of a crash in icm32.dll (Windows/MS Color Management Module)

The first link seems to have the most info, and definitely looks like it's 3rd-party plugin related, ie. snesamp, dsp stacker, ml_ipod plugins are all referenced there as being the cause, heh. Though in ml_ipod's case, it will probably be due to a clash with the new native ipod support plugin (ml_pmp / pmp_ipod.dll).

The 2nd link seems to suggest that updating video card drivers fixed the problem
(is your graphics card also an nVidia model?)

If all else fails, try a clean install

Well... it seems, like some others, by removing gen_ml.dll, winamp hasn't any more apparent conflicts...I will keep monitoring the forums and also see what I can come up with to find a solution...

I also removed the GEN_ML.dll file in plugins dir, but
now my ADD TO MEDIA library or ML button doesnt work,
and the main reason I upgraded to 5.2 was to try out the XM radio support in media library.
sigh

gen_ml.dll is the Media Library, so removing it will also remove the Media Library.

It'll be an ml plugin to blame for the error (ml_*.dll)
but alas I can't help any further without the required info (eg. my_plugin_list.txt etc)

Try uninstalling all third-party plug-ins, then reinstall them until you find the one responsible for the crash.

When you installed Winamp 5.21, did you make sure to set it up for Multi User Support in the installer options?

Screen 4: Multi-user settings
-Separate settings per user (saves config files to user's Application Data dir)

DJ Egg, it's good to see you're still helping rid the world of Winamp problems.

I want to bring an old problem up that's really bugging me. DSP Stacker crashes later versions of Winamp, namely anything after 5.2. As this is the only decent stacker out there can you rally to either a) get the Winamp team to restructure their code so that DSP stacker doesn't crash or b) write their own DSP stacker that would have native support?

Thank you for your help and concern on this issue.
