i need help with my winamp i lost all my stuff!
i am in a major winamp crisis(or at least thats what i think). while i was listening to my music through my winamp i was also trying to find a newskin for it. i picked one and donwloaded it. it my computer(its a windows)asked me wat i want to open it with. i clicked to open it with my winamp. my winamp created another file thinking it was music. i got kinda innoyed with wat happened that i didnt care about the skin and just wanted to get back to my music so i click load and selected my music file but no music came up. i got really scared and tried to figure out wat happened to the music, but it was like it dissapeared. ithink i might of removed all the files out of the winamp player on accident when i tried to get the skin file off. do you know how i can get my music it back? plz help me!!! i really want my music

Your best bet is to double-click on My Computer, then press F3 to search your hard drive(s) for the missing music. If your collection is .mp3, search your computer for *.mp3 to find all mp3s.
If you did select to delete all the files from your hard drive using 2.74 you might be out of luck. Delete to recycle bin wasn't added until Winamp 5. |

I answered you in this thread.
If you are using Winamp 2.74, as you said in your other thread, then they're gone. When selecting 'physically remove selected files,' Winamp did not delete to the recycle bin until version 5. You can look into data recovery tools, but if you've written any information to the drive since you deleted the files then you have a very slim chance of recovery. |

Older versions of Winamp are not supported. If you need tech support that is specific to Winamp, please update Winamp. Winamp 5 is the continuation and upgrade of Winamp 2. You do not need the Pro package if you don't want it.
Are you sure the files have actually been deleted from the hard drive? Winamp does not automatically delete or "destroy" files. The only way is if you tell Winamp to delete the files using the "Physically remove selected file(s)" option. If the files have been actually been deleted from the hard drive there is not much that we can do about it. For some tips on recovering deleted files, see this thread including gaekwad2's suggestion a little further down. From my reply see the Quote for a suggestion for recovering deleted files. The use of any file recovery techniques or applications should be done at your discretion. In other words, don't yell at us if things go wrong. Otherwise, I don't fully understand your post. Are you sure the files have been deleted from the hard drive? Or, is it just the playlist(s) that show nothing? |

If I correctly understand your thread so far, it sounds like entries/items were accidentally removed from the playlist(s) and then the playlist(s) were saved. However, the actual media files them selves are still on the hard drive. Unfortunately, if that is the case, you are going have to rebuild the playlist(s).
In the future, if mistakes are made with a playlist the Playlist Undo plug-in may very helpful. See the "Playlist Undo" thread for a discussion of the plug-in and the latest downloads. I don't think that plug-in will help now. However, it is a good plug-in to have on hand incase playlist mistakes or accidents happen again. |
