How do I change the icons for a smart view?

Tittle says it all... in Winamp 5.2 how do I change the icon in the list of smart views?

The default view has a little speaker symbol and I'd like to be able to change other views to have the same... Is there a video icon too?

Close Winamp

Go to the %AppData%\Winamp\Plugins folder

Open gen_ml.ini in Notepad

Scroll towards the bottom of the file, and you'll see something like:

query1_image=101
query2_image=102
query3_image=103
query4_image=104
query5_image=105
query6_image=106
query7_image=107
query8_image=-1
query9_image=-1
query10_image=-1
query11_image=-1
query12_image=-1
query13_image=-1
query14_image=201
query15_image=201

query1 = local media > audio
image=101 is the speaker icon

query2 = local media > video
image=102 is the video icon

query3 = Most Played
query4 = Recently Added
query5 = Recently Played
query6 = Never Played
query7 = Top Rated

In my example above, queries 8 to 13 are my own custom Smart Views

Change the value for those from -1 to 101 to change the icon to the Audio icon.


Also in my example, query 14 and 15 are Playlists (image=201)


Save gen_ml.ini

Reopen Winamp.

You can also remove the icons (and revert to the way ML used to look in older version of Winamp) by using DrO's ML Icon Control

but I could find no more appropriate place to document this information.
This thread is still the best for instructions on changing the icons for an ML SmartView.

So I was doing some house-cleaning on my Media Library (ML) and needed to reference this thread in order to refresh my memory on how to change the ML SmartView icons.

DJ Egg's instructions are easy enough to follow (thank you DJ Egg! ).
But I couldn't readily picture which icon corresponded to the different labels above.

So I mocked up the following screenshot for reference:



I have leveraged the available icons to my own custom groupings of ML SmartViews,
but as originally intended the icons map as follows:

• 101 = Audio
• 102 = Video
• 103 = Most Played
• 104 = Recently Added
• 105 = Recently Played
• 106 = Never Played
• 107 = Top Rated
• 108 = Podcast

Looks like stashbox.org is no longer in operation.
I still happened to have the screenshot mentioned above, so I re-uploaded it for reference.
