Playlist Skipping Problem.
So, yeah.
My Playlist. Dang man, that thing is skipping. I have around 130 songs, and every now and then, when a song ends, it'll just skip through a bunch. Sometimes it's around 10, sometimes around 50 or so. It's kind of inconvenient. edit: All of the songs seem to be .wma format, if that helps. - Like right now. It was at song 112, then skipped to 48, going forwards. I've looked through a few other topics, and have tried stuff, but nothing seems to work. I figure actually posting a topic would be the best way. Bare in mind that I don't know crap about my computer, so I'm fairly sure this is what is needed. - Dell Dimension 8250. - Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz. - 254MB RAM. - SoundMAX Digital Audio. - WinXp sp2. - DirectX 9.0c. - 5.21. - Full install. - Shared installer option. Thanks for any help. It's very appreciated. |

Does it always skip the same songs? If so, have you changed what directory these songs were in since the playlist was last updated?
Or do you mean it's jumping around? You might have accidentally turned on the shuffle feature. Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway. |

The directory is the same. In fact, I actually just re-updated the playlist, and it's still happening. Nah, it isn't on shuffle. It's skipping through them, I'm afraid. It'll say 118 -, but then move to 119 -, then 120 -, etc. before it ever starts playing the song. I've never really had any serious problems with Winamp. This is really rare. |

You say the songs are in .wma? Do any .wma songs play? Make sure you have the proper codecs installed.

Yeah, all of them are .wma.
They'll all play if I manually click on them. When it automatically switches to the next song at the end, sometimes it'll skip. :/ |

That is really strange? Do you have any third party plugins installed? Try starting winamp with no third party plugins.
have you tried a clean install You are using the latest version, aren't you? Nothing? post full system specs including a hijack this log. Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway. |

No, none at all.
I've tried a clean install a few times now, before posting the topic. I posted what I thought were my specs in the first post. I'll give this hijacklog thing a try in a few minutes. |

Alright, I have the log. Do you want me to just post it? It's pretty long.

edit//you can just post it, that's fine. you can also put it into a zip file and upload that. I might not be able to analyze it until tomorrow, though. Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway. |

Hey, hey, take your time. I'm not rushing you at all. You're the one doing me a favor.
I'll try the DirectSound tweak. I figure I'll just try another clean install for the moment. I dunno. I hope this isn't too long. :/ Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 8:26:09 PM, on 4/30/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\ACS\acsd.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\cisvc.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\IWP\NPFMntor.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\nvsvc32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\UAService7.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Security Console\NSCSRVCE.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\cidaemon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\DSentry.exe C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 5\DirectCD\DirectCD.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Photo AIO Printer 942\dlbubmgr.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Photo AIO Printer 942\dlbubmon.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliPoint\point32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Photo AIO Printer 942\memcard.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jucheck.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Support\DSAgnt.exe C:\Program Files\Digital Line Detect\DLG.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\LIVEUP~1\LUCOMS~1.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dlbucoms.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\AIM\aim.exe C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dellnet.com/ R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.dellnet.com/ R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dellnet.com/ R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.dellnet.com/ O2 - BHO: URLLink - {4A2AACF3-ADF6-11D5-98A9-00E018981B9E} - C:\Program Files\NewDotNet\newdotnet7_22.dll O2 - BHO: NAV Helper - {A8F38D8D-E480-4D52-B7A2-731BB6995FDD} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O2 - BHO: AIMSite Class - {D70E6A20-7060-4829-B3D7-B6624A1DE7C6} - C:\Program Files\AIM Toolbar\aimhelper.dll (file missing) O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {C4069E3A-68F1-403E-B40E-20066696354B} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DVDSentry] C:\WINDOWS\System32\DSentry.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AdaptecDirectCD] "C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 5\DirectCD\DirectCD.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mmtask] C:\Program Files\MUSICMATCH\MUSICMATCH Jukebox\mmtask.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] nwiz.exe /install O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Dell Photo AIO Printer 942] "C:\Program Files\Dell Photo AIO Printer 942\dlbubmgr.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\system32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IntelliPoint] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliPoint\point32.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [New.net Startup] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~2.DLL,NewDotNetStartup -s O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DellSupport] "C:\Program Files\Dell Support\DSAgnt.exe" /startup O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background O4 - Global Startup: Digital Line Detect.lnk = ?
