Media Library Sections - Save Changes?

When you open the Media Library, you have the tree structure on the left that has all the options. I have noticed that if you collapse some of those options, close WinAMP and open it again, the media library does not retain these settings.

Is there a way have certain selections expanded and certain ones collapsed by default?

have a look at the ML Lite-n plugin in this section which will allow you to preserve the collapsed state as per it was on exit.

Nice plug-in. I've many playlists in the library and it's annoying, that Winamp doesn't save the settings and I have to close the large playlist section again and again. I agree, this should be part of Winamp.

but if everything was done natively in the core i'd never have anything to code but yeah i know what you mean. with this and the regular Lite-n plugin my ml and prefs are a lot neater, hehe

Hehe, completly agree, but this feature is a valid request, I don't expect that e.g. the "Winamp Pro" entry will be removed nativly.

I sense a plugin to be able to alphebetise the playlists in the media library coming soon... (i hope)

heh, i had done one that does alphabetise the listing but i hadn't finished the code to remap the saved entries in one of the ini files (so that the alphabetising would hold) but with the changes made to 5.22+ it broke everything i'd intended on doing (since they moved to an xml file) so unless i get bored / nullsoft implement it natively it may still some time off...

So I can use DrO's ML Lite-n plugin to remember the collapsed state of sections within the ML. Winamp by default will remember the SmartView I was on when Winamp was closed. But what if I always want a certain SmartView to be loaded upon startup?

Might I request the ability to designate a default ML SmartView?
When checked, this SmartView would always be loaded upon startup.

DrO, would this feature best be implemented as a new plugin all together
... or as an option within ML Lite-n?

DrO has released ML Lite-n v1.0a

This new release offers no new functionality or fixes other than improved
compatibility with newer versions of Winamp ... specifically unicode.

No known bugs with this plugin I don't think, just the one feature request:
