Playing MP3/WAV directly from IE6 FTP

Hi, I use ftp to deliver produced audio files to my customers - when I am browsing these files using FTP in IE I would like to be able to preview them by double-clicking them in the ftp window. This works fine for WindowsMedia files etc, but for files associated with Winamp, it correctly launches Winamp but winamp just sits there with the file name and will not play. It DOES work OK for HTTP downloads (ie if I play files directly from a website)

We are fairly certain that this worked in the past.

Any ideas - would really appreciate it since it's a pain to download each file in order to play it.

Thanks, SDI.

(Using IE6 and Winamp 5.34 under XP Pro)

Hi. Sorry, but Winamp currently has no support for ftp streaming.
It is on the wishlist though...

Thanks for your respons - based on an old post I just found here, I think I have found a solution which works great...

Downoaded NetDrive, which allows you to map a network drive to an ftp server. (you need to have a bit of a search to find somewhere you can download it - they tend to be hosted on University sites)

http://www.google.com/search?q=netdrive

Now I can work directly in the mapped drive in Windows Explorer and it seems to work great! Plays everything and makes file management much easier too!
