Cannot transfer! Specs on bottom...

I HAVE NOT IGNORED THE RULES (I believe), SPECS ARE ON BOTTOM!

ive searched for hours on this forum for a solution to this but I can't find any.

ive got a Samsung YP-U2JZW and i'm trying to sync playlists(and the songs on them) onto my DAP. let me first say that i was extremely elated to hear i may be able to sync using winamp rather than wmp. winamp is much much easier and much better to use than wmp.

back to the topic. prior to 5.35, my device wouldn't be recognized or winamp would crash. now with 5.35 im able to get to syncing and no crashing occurs. if i try to sync a playlist, every file will be unable to transfer. it will return an "error in insert" with a code of i believe 80020003 or 8002000a for each file and it changes between the two. it does not mix (if one file has an error code of 80020003, all of them will). ive tried remaking my playlists, toggling settings on and off, restarting my computer numerous times, shutting off unneccesary processes, the works. i should note however, four mp3s transfer flawlessly for some odd reason while the rest return that error. i have no idea why. ive been scratching my head for hours trying to figure out what seperates the four from the rest. when i unplug my player and go into it, the playlists transfer with all songs intact. it will not play any of the songs on the list besides the four because they couldn't transfer over.

its almost like a tease, i feel so close to being able to organize with beloved winamp like i used to two years ago with a Creative Nomad MuVo2 that used .m3u files placed in a directory for playlist installation.

some things i've noticed...
1. my player shows up as a drive in My Computer and the name is Samsung YP-U2JZW__ with underscores denoting whitespace chars.

2. my player has two mandatory directories that are not possible to delete, and will remain there even after formatting. one is called media and one is called data. they are on the root of the mp3 player. all music goes in media. when i try syncing with winamp and it fails, winamp makes folders inside media, one for each mp3 file with the name of the file excluding extension.

no malware or viruses at all on my computer (trust me, i'm not one to run a program and think it's going to keep my stuff clean, i manually pick through all of the files and know which files are out of place/don't belong in my computer, nor do i engage in high risk behavior to inherit malware on my computer)

specs:
gpu: ati radeon 9800 pro
mobo: D845EBT2
processor speed: Pentium IV 2.4 GHZ
XP: Service Pack 2 with all updates on a regular basis
sound card: onboard
ram: 512MB DDR
Direct X 9.0c

I use hijackthis regularly but i don't think it's required as I know what entries belong in there and i hand inspect the log around twenty or so times a day. as i said before, i know how to take care of my computer software and hardware wise.

I am using AVG and AVAST if that information is required...

no third party plugins have been installed, this is a clean install. any help would be great!

hey!

omg! IT WORKED! I got it to work! this is amazing, winamp is amazing and now that i can use it to manage my playlists instead of wmp's god awful design that could have only come from the depths of hell.

several things to mention on the solution to this problem.

1. I re-installed it one last time.
2. I forgot to remove winamp.ini last time, so I technically did not uninstall it correctly.
3. This time I installed with less clutter on the left hand side bar of my media library window. I did not install things like shoutcast and now playing when prompted to during set up. Perhaps those could have been interfering? Maybe it was my idiotic move in not removing winamp.ini.
4. One song would not transfer, it gave an error code 80030004a or something. I solved it by checking it's ID3 tag, it's tag had put a _ where I had put a : .By simply removing the : so it wouldn't turn into a _ , it fixed it and it transferred fine afterwards.

i would also like to point out something very different. I did not mention this earlier because i thought it was irrelevant, the time before when it did not work, whenever i started up winamp, it would freeze for about three minutes and become unresponsive. at first i quit it by ending application in task manage as i thought it had froze. further observation showed it resumes and unfreezes after about three minutes, hence why i thought it was minor or irrelevant. with this new copy of winamp that works, i no longer experience this at all.

I'm getting a similar problem. Ever since I upgraded to 5.34 (and 5.35 has this problem, too), I can't transfer any files to my 6gb Creative Zen Micro through Winamp. No matter what song I attempt to transfer, the same thing happens: the songs queue up to be transferred, and then fail to do so, citing an "Error in Insert: 8002000a".

I tried following Frizzleby's method, but that did nothing. I reformatted my hard drives over the weekend and reinstalled Windows XP and Service Pack 2(along with Winamp 5.35), and I'm still getting this problem.

Specs:
GPU: nVidia GeForce FX 5200
Motherboard: Not sure-- my dad built this computer a while ago, and I don't recall what type of board I have. I'll try to figure it out.
Processor: AMD Athlon XP running at 1.1GHz
RAM: 1.0Gb, I think it's DDR
Sound card: On-board, to the best of my knowledge
DirectX: 9.0c

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What's the firmware revision for your Zen Micro?

If it's v1.x then it'll be using the pmp_njb.dll interface.

I've got the exact same model as you, with v1.x firmware, using pmp_njb.dll, and don't have any problems whatsoever.

However, if the firmware version is 2.x, which I suspect it is, then this upgrades the Zen to a PlaysForSure compatible device, and therefore it'll be using the pmp_p4s.dll interface instead.

5.35 Released

Updates:

If you've been getting an "Error in Insert: 45001" error message when trying to sync/transfer files to your PlaysForSure (P4S) Device (Sansa devices seem to be the most effected), then an updated/fixed pmp_p4s.dll is now available:

You were correct in your suspicions-- it is, indeed, firmware v2.x. I downloaded and installed the file you provided, and tried to transfer some music again. Still no luck, unfortunately. Transferring music to the device still results in an error 8002000a.

Thanks for your quick response, though. I didn't realize that the firmware upgrade did that-- shows how attentive I am.

Error 8002000a

I am having a similar issue with my Vibez TrekStor. I tried the clean install, updated DirectX to v.10, added the essentials pack, deleted the wrap-around plug-in from Nullsoft (suggested in another post), and downloaded the latest firmware from Vibez, but to no effect. My Vibez worked fine under the last version of Winamp (5.33), but 5.35, which I installed yesterday, doesn't like it. All music files that I try to manually transfer turn up with the 8002000a error in insert message.

Can I get an older version of the plug-in or is there another plug-in that will work with my Vibez?

Thanks!

Ok guys, I have a possible workaround for you.

In the ML, give some tracks a rating between 1 and 5 and then try to transfer them.

Can you please post here letting me know if this works for you.

if this works for you, this patch will be a definite fix: http://stashbox.org/21554/pmp_p4s.dll

With Winamp closed, save to the Winamp\Plugins folder as pmp_p4s.dll, thus overwriting the old version (ie. if stashbox prompts you to save it as 21554_pmp_p4s.dll, don't!)

[EDIT]

Installer now available
http://stashbox.org/21655/Winamp535_Update_Pack.exe

(for 5.35 ONLY, not newer versions of Winamp)

Hey Will, your suggestion worked. Using a rating on the track allowed it to transfer.

I tried downloading your pmp_p4s.dll file, but Windows won't let me run the .exe.

Thanks again and let me know about the .dll.

Best,
Wingo

Beautiful! Rating worked perfectly, and with the aid of the plugin, everything's back to normal for me.

Thanks so much for your help.

OK, I figured it out. I feel silly, but I didn't realize that the file was the .dll and not some kind of installer. I changed the extension and manually dropped in the plug-in folder.

Thanks Will. That was a great fix.

Best, Wingo

Yup, make sure the file gets saved as pmp_p4s.dll

Thanks for your confirmations.

We're just waiting for koopatrooper to come online, and then we'll get him to make an updated "Winamp 5.35 Update Pack" installer.

I'm not sure if I should start a new thread... but here goes. I'm getting errors sync'ing with a Creative Zen Vision (30GB), and I'm making slow progress figuring out what the errors are (special characters in Title, etc).

QUESTION - is there somewhere I can download the list of error codes and what the nominal definitions are. I'm hoping that it will save me time. I'm including the specs on my PC below.
