Removing Enqueue/Add to Bookmark List from context menu
Hi,
I'm using the latest version of Winamp running on Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3 installed. I would like to remove "Enqueue in Winamp" and "Add to Winamp's Bookmark list" from the right click context menu, but I can't figure out how to do it. In Shell Options in Preferences, no boxes are ticked and only "Play in Winamp" is selected for both files and folders, yet I still get these extra options when I right click a file. They do not appear when I right click a folder. I've also tried going through the registry and removing the shell options for those entries. That works perfectly for a while, but then I guess Winamp recreates those registry entries, as the menu items come back. Thanks in advance for any help, Steve. |

EDIT 2010:
Old thread revived - Please ignore this post (which related to an old version of Winamp from 2 or 3 years ago) ______________________________________________________ Known Bugs/Issues http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....id=156839#jtfe Shell Options broken (Enqueue+Play, Remove shell menus, etc) ____________________________________________________________ Alas, this new feature in 5.53 broke those already-existing features: * Improved: Different shell descriptions for different associated filetypes To fix it, the Jump To File Extra plugin (gen_jumpex.dll) will need updating. The only way to remove 'Enqueue in Winamp' and 'Add to Winamp's Bookmark list' currently, is to manually remove them via either: Win2k/XP Control Panel -> Folder Options -> File Types, or via the relevant Registry keys. The current options in Winamp -> Prefs -> Jump to File -> Shell Options only affect the following Registry keys: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Winamp.File HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Winamp.Playlist But you'll now see that there's all the following keys in the registry: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Winamp.File.AAC HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Winamp.File.M4A HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Winamp.File.MP3 HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Winamp.File.WMA etc etc etc So for MP3 files, you'd need to manually delete: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Winamp.File.MP3\shell\Enqueue HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Winamp.File.MP3\shell\ListBookmark Hopefully DrO will eventually find the time to update JTFE, though I can't say if/when.... |

Thanks for the prompt reply. I've tried the registry fix, but unfortunately Winamp restores the entries. At least I know it's not something I'm doing wrong, so I'll just wait for a new version.

Hmm, yeah. You'll probably need to uncheck:
Winamp -> Prefs -> File Types: "Restore file associations at Winamp startup". I can't guarantee that JTFE will be updated in time for the next release (and neither can DrO). |

How do you do remove these items with the latest version of Winamp? I can't find the settings in the options menu any more, and deleting the keys from the registry is no use as Winamp restores them. Thanks!

1. Winamp > Ctrl+P (for Preferences)
2. General Preferences > File Types > Shell Options You may need to double click File Types to expand the options branch |

I don't see "Shell Options" under File Types: -
![]() Double-clicking File Types does nothing. |

you don't have the JTFE plug-in installed (is what provides the feature as an added extra).
you can just install http://nunzioweb.com/daz/jtfe.html (if you're already using 5.601). -daz |

I guess i'm kinda bitter about winamp. i can't believe i have to hack my registry just to remove the hateful context menu choices. i mean, for the sake of pete, i got enqueue-ing (probably not even a real word), the bookmark, the queue-it-up, the add to playlist. I put up with the bucketload of glom put on by winrar, but i was kinda/sorta surprised to see winamp glomming right up there with the big boys.
I'm not gonna hack my registry to get rid of this stuff. I'm gonna remove winamp. Sure it's better than windows media, (one of the big boys for glomming stuff onto you), but that doesn't excuse super-sizing me with glom. (Of course all of my "glom" is a euphemism for what I REALLY call it.) More minutes of my life wasted and gone forever. |
