Folder names in m3u files

I'd like to write m3u files which include names of folders (subdirectories), not just individual files, so that when Winamp opens the m3u, it expands the folder name to all of the MP3 files in it at that time.

Although this use is not documented here
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=65772
it seems to work if the folder is on a local hard disk, but not if the folder is on a networked machine (even if said machine's disk is assigned a drive letter so it can be treated as a local disk).

Could it be made to work if the M3U is on a network drive as well?
