Winamp3 is an old dead project and is completely unsupported. It was also a completely different product than Winamp. Read more about the differences between the Winamp3 and Winamp products HERE.

Uninstall Winamp3 and install the only supported version of Winamp - the current version.

If you have any problems afterwards, then you can post back for help.

Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads.

Also, have a look at Guide to "sidegrading" from Winamp3 to Winamp 5. It gives some important info about installing WA 5 with a preexisting WA3 installation and also how to use or add various WA3 features in WA 5.

Please do not PM me for tech support. Any request for tech support through PM will be ignored.

is this f drive a physical hard drive or is it a flash drive if it is a harddrive you really need to have it checked with a program for errors (scandisk or chkdisk on windows)if you use mac check with them to see what program to use. the file sounds like it is stored on a bad area of the drive (if harddrive may mean the drive is about to die) if you can get the file again i would suggest you do so since <(edit)i doubt there is anyway of recovering the missing parts of the song(sound)

thanks rob

.ASF .wma .mpg

i tried to change the file extension to following .ASF .wma .mpg these extension are playing the song very well.

but .mp3.mp2 .ogg and other formats are not playing.

the file i uploaded is orginally .mp3 format. in my f drive i have some 6GB amount of songs all are mp3 what can i do whether i have to rename all the extension to .asf ant to covert to mp3. or is there any chance to recover with any software. if there is no chance pls tell how to change all the songs extension to .asf in a single time because if i manually change it will talke much time to edit all 6gb songs. pls help me.

and how to clear the virus inside my f drive. if i place the mp3 songs again in f drive will it affect again. wht is the name of virus that causes these kind of damage is there any tool...

pls help me

thank you

looks like the files were encoded with windows media encoder 11, not any mp3 encoder.

I wouldn't bother converting the files as it will make them sound really bad.

and I'd do all the changes by hand just incase you come across a file which really is an mp3.

the alternative is to rerip all your cd's properly(or do what I do and download them all)

dont know if you will be able to save the music files but you will be able to save your system if you delete the entry in safe mode (run hijack this in safe mode remove the 2 020 entries restart back into safe mode and remove the file from the hard drive (also remember to turn off system restore (2000 and above)and run the disk cleanup manager after doing this)and then return to windows normally if the virus hasnt spread throughout the system it will return to normal(but i doubt you will be able to save the infected music files)) this is the way i found to delete the virus since my system almost became infected with it and remember do not download the file from the flashcodec site

Have you any idea where you got the virus from?
How did it get on the system in the first place?

its a flaw with the file it wants to connect with that internet site and download the file mentioned in the other forum you listed (windows media player connects you to it so there will probably be a security fix(hopefully soon))when it tried to install i had my registry protector warn me but it installed the file anyway at the next reboot but i was able to get rid of it down in safe mode

I'd persoanlly recommend that you post your HijackThis log on one of the specialized security sites that I referenced in my first post in the thread I linked to above.

But this is how I would do it...

When the computer is booting up, start tapping the F8 key during the black startup screens (before it gets to the blue 'Windows XP is starting' screen).

You will then be presented with a screen of boot type options (start normal, safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with network support, etc). Select 'Safe mode':

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Wait for Windows to boot up (into Safe Mode)

Then go to: Start -> Run
Type: hijackthis
Hit Enter

Run the HijackThis scan by clicking 'Do a system scan only'

In the scan results, place a checkmark next to those two O20 items ONLY

O20 - Winlogon Notify: rqrsqrp - rqrsqrp.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winsad32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winsad32.dll

and click "Fix checked"

Close HijackThis

Reboot (into normal mode)

Then download and run FS-MP3Fix to fix your corrupt mp3's:

i dont think you will be able to save id3 tags you will most likely have to reinput them in you can do this in winamp if you right click the file in the playlist editor view file info but if you want gracenote to do it select all files right click and send to> auto tag verify the data before you click ok

thanks rob

ok in the playlist you can select all the song at once by click the button with a dotted box after you select all the music files you want to retag you want to right click on any one of them in the menu it will say send to click that in that sub menu it will say auto tag it will open the gracenote auto tag program embeded in winamp depending on how many songs you are retagging will determine how long it takes when all the files say done in the status column click apply changes but it wouldnt hurt to make sure they are retagging correctly by clicking on the individual file in the auto tag list to see what changes will take place (sometimes it mis interprets the filename)when you have verified the info click apply changes and all the files will be retagged

right click menu will only work if you have to mouse set as right hand use (standard) if your left handed it would be a left click

ok to get rid of it you need to go down to safe mode
to do so reboot the system and before you get the windows logo (normally after the boot options/diagnostics) and immediately start hitting f8 may need to do twice to get a safe mode list
select safe mode(no networking (should be the top one)) and run hijack this in safe mode and delete the 020 entry you have and delete the file associated with the entry
then (if you have) run spybot 6 or adaware 2008 and do a scan for any other entries associated
after all entried are deleted restart the computer and the virus should be gone from the system
now to completely get rid of the virus you will need to get rid of the infected files (if you can use the mp3fix program(save new files in a different folder) if you cant see if you can get the orignal files again

next option is to get a better antivirus/spyware and/or a registry protector (to keep entries you dont want out)

thanks rob
