Randomize and Autoplay Playlist?
Sorry, can't work this out by myself:-(
I haven't used Winamp before, and just installed 5.541.2189. I'd like Winamp set up so that when it starts, it'll automatically start playing a randomized list of tracks from a USB hard drive. Advice would be much appreciated :-) Janine S. |

An Autoplay plugin. Not sure about opening a folder or anything, unless you do it in the command line. | Brought to you by ^V ^C | The one... the original... no seriously! |

no idea as i cannot test it out at the moment but on the second preferences page for the plugin (see http://nunzioweb.com/daz/timerestore.html ) and then enter the folder for the drive/where the files are stored e.g. j:\music and i think winamp will then attempt to recursively add all found files in that location [it is the load file / playlist / ml query option]. if that doesn't work then it might need a \* on the end e.g. j:\music\*. and if that doesn't work then not too sure what else to suggest at the moment.

Thank you so much DrO, you guys are amazing.
Just one (dumb) question - should the playlist be on the USB drive, with the tracks, or on the pc hard drive, with Winamp? Jan XXX |

It doesn't really matter where the list is, as long as winamp knows where it is.

Um..How does Winamp know where the list is?
Sorry. As I said, I'm a Winamp newbie. One other question: Do all skins have the same controls? Is there a skin that's best for beginners? Thanks, Jan |

I think there is some confusion here.
DrO suggestion was to add the folder (path) from the USB drive in the 'Load File' box in the second page of the Time Restore & Autoplay (TRAP) options. As mentioned by DrO, the media files from that folder will be loaded into Winamp's Playlist Editor section/window. It is not a playlist that TRAP is loading at the time of start-up. It is just simply adding the media files from the folder to the playlist editor. As for skins. Any of the skins that come with the install of Winamp will do for beginners. All Classic skins have the same controls and most Modern skins will have the same basic playback controls, however (unlike classic) thay can have additional controls and/or features. For more info on skins see... |
