Is it possible to set and save a different Preamp setting for each and every mp3 file? The volume of the recordings differs so very much from file to file.

While you are playing an Mp3 file with volume or frequency deficiencies, adjust your EQ volume and equalizer settings to compensate. Then click on "Presets" (in your EQ window) and select "Save > Auto-load preset". Winamp will ask you which file you want your current EQ settings associated with. Either enter a filename or accept the filename that Winamp suggests, and click "OK".

Then, in the future, whenever you play that specific Mp3, Winamp will automatically adjust the EQ to that song's preset settings. (You must have the EQ's "On/Off" and "Auto" buttons both switched ON for this to be enabled).

How can you make winamp automatically revert to the original equaliser setting after playing a track having auto eq setting.Else if I save auto setting for one track I will have to set for all the tracks.Hope you get what I mean.

I'll make it clear .I have loaded a playlist and and an eq setting .There is just one track in the list that has an autoeq setting.
On playing that particular track the eq setting changes to the auto setting and stays that way.I want it to revert to the previous setting on playing the next track. Can it be done .ANYONE

Maybe there's a "default" EQ setting that can be used unless there is a saved setting for the song that is currently playing. I haven't found out how this works, but that seems logical to me. If there's no such setting, could someone at nullsoft please add this as a request?

Yes, there is a default preset. First set up the equalizer as you want it for the default. Then click on the preset button in the EQ panel, then Save/Default.

How do u get auto eq settings from 2.79 to 2.80

I've just upgraded from winamp version 2.79 to 2.80 and I had a lot of auto eq settings that have disappeared while upgrading. Is there anyway of getting these back or do I have to redo them all???

Did you uninstall first or something?
If so, you shouldn't have done.
Winamp setup doesn't overwrite the winamp.q2 file with a new one.

No I didn't uninstall, but I did install it in a different location due to one of my partitions getting very full....So will the problem be fixed if I just replace the new winamp.q2 file with the old one??

Yes, that would explain it...
Glad to hear it worked ok.

btw, what do you mean by "the default eq"?
The default settings/presets are in winamp.q1 file
It's only personal saved settings that are saved to winamp.q2

When u don't have a auto eq setting for a song then it will revert but to the default eq that you set. If you don't set a default eq setting then it will keep the eq setting of the previous song played that had an auto eq setting

Thats wat I meant by default eq setting

I had to re-install Winamp 2.8 but didn't get the presets I got the first time, my preset list is empty (and it wasn't the first time i installed winamp 2.8).

Where can i find all the official presets "Concert Hall, Bathroom, ..." that were installed with Winamp 2.8???

Thx

The default presets are stored in the winamp.q1 file
(as opposed to the winamp.q2 file which stores saved user presets)

winamp.q1 should be installed by default and in your main winamp dir.
Here, have mine

(Unzip to the Winamp dir)
Attached Files
File Type: zip winamp.q1.zip (682 Bytes, 643 views)
