I have a "Cambridge soundworks desktop theater 5.1" audio system with 5 speakers and a woofer(or how's it called :-x)
and a stupid "Allegro" soundcard wich I will soon change.

My problem is: With winamp I can only hear the sound coming from 2 of the 5 speakers while I should hear 4 of them(this only happens when I play songs from cd and not from the hard drive). Everything works great with windows cd player, so I assume it's something due to winamp plug-ins.

I am confused because there are so many options....
Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Odd.
Uninstall Cd-reader and use DirectSound as your output plug-in.

ee......

ehm, what do I have to do to use it? If it's with winamp already, isn't it installed and working?

Sorry for boring, but even If I use winamp since a long time, I never managed with plugins.

When you installed the Cd-Reader plug-in, did you rename the original in_cdda.dll ?

yes, I renamed the in_cdda.dll so to don't make winamp use it, as told on the readme file. Then, to uninstall cd reader when you told me to, I just renamed it to the original and deleted the cdreader dll.

This is odd.
Go to the Plug-ins window, select Direct sound and hit Configure. Under directSound Output device, select what best describes your sound system.

no chance. I think I tried that too before. Anyway I tried again and it didn't work.

I was wondering, Isn't there some other good plugin for this kind of things? The cdreader worked only one time with all the 4 speakers and then it started giving me that MMSYSTEM032 error. MAybe some other plugin

It may be a soundcard problem. Try updgrading your soundcard drivers with the latest version.

well, it works with windows cd player and also the soundcard is practically new and the drivers too, so...I think the problem only comes from winamp. I have the sure feeling it is some option or plugin to setup.

damn, I got it to work from all the 4 speakers now. I used directsound and cdreader together, but the sound jumps now.
I think I read I have to lower the buffer. How do I do that?

I think that you need to increase the buffer, not lower it !
Preferences>Plug-ins>Input>Cd-Reader>Configure>Highlight your drive>Configure>Tweak the buffer.
