I know Winamp is an audio player, but being able to play Mpeg Video files through the minibrowser, or a similar window would be a great addition to winamp's uses...

I think that it's not a feature that should be in Winamp by standard- but that it's great that the program is flexible enough to have plugins that allow it to function as a movie player, if that's what the user wants.

A full list of video/movie plugins:
Note: This list is here for legacy support only. We don't recommend using any of these plugins with Winamp 5.57 or newer. Tara Video Plugin (Real Audio/Video, AVI, MPEG) http://www.musiclivesonline.com/software/watara.html Vidamp plugin (AVI, MPEG, MPG, QT, MOV, ANIM) http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=22629 Porzillosoft Video Object Plugin (avi, asf, mov, qt, m1v, mpg) http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=109518 http://digilander.libero.it/Kappe/mmprogrammi.htm | download DivX plugin http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=61467 DivX Ext PRO (DivX, mdvd, mpg, qt, asf) http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=102741 VID4WA (AVI, MPEG, MPG, MPV2, MPE, WMV, ASF, DAT, IVF, VOB, DivX) http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=125487 Weedsoft Video Plugin (AVI, MPEG, MPG, ...) http://www.csr.utexas.edu/personal/weed/video.html | mirror Winamp Powerplayer (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DAT/VCD, ASF, WMV, MOV, SWF, AVI, DivX) http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=131443 Powerplayer II (DVD, plus all formats from Powerplay 1 above) http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=134889 Nullsoft QuickTime plugin (MOV / QT) http://nunzioweb.com/sawgstuff/wa/in_qt.dll in_mplayer (mpeg-1/2/4, asf/wmv, avi, dvd) http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=185703 Kannans Video plugin http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=133405 NiceMC Media plugin (video - avi mpeg dat asf vob ifo, dvd, image formats) http://www.nicemcmedia.com/w5plugin/index.html <shareware> http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=13956 <removed> Warning! The free version of NiceMC comes bundled with adware/spyware, and therefore we do NOT recommend it. For more, look in: winamp.com/plugins -> input section. Also, please check The Official 3rd-party Plugin Buglist for known bugs. Hopefully a later release of 5.x will support all video/movie/dvd formats via the default DirectShow Decoder. |

Are there any recent plugins that can play the RM/MOV videos in the Winamp Video window, instead of spawning a new window of its own?
EDIT: Ahhhhhhhh, I didn't notice this was such an old topic >_< |

I wish that someone would develop a nice plugin for quicktime files in winamp5, the powerplayer just locks my pc by using 100% cpu and doesnt play the file and vidamp plays but with serious studdering. :-/ Tara is great, works for all my real media files, no updates needed. Just wish we could get a nice mov plugin

Try a plug-in search. I have seen one that will play mov and swf files.

Thanks for your quick answer.
I did. But the description always says for Winamp 2! Can I ignore that? I'll try the plug-ins I've just downloaded. Something related: What I don't like about Tara, is that it uses an own window and it always turns so small after each track. For every new real-video-file I've to make it "fullscreen" again. Can I change that? |

Yes, MOST WA 2.xx plug-ins work with WA 5.xx. You must have seen the WA 2.xx = WA 5.xx with bug fixes and new features.
(The ones that don't are usually for very specific things (Languages packs and the such)) As for the Tara thingamabob, I don't know, I don't use it: - Real Audio and Video (with no extra plugins) Play Real Media format files in Winamp with no extra plug-ins. If you have Real One or Real Player already and hate it, feel free to uninstall it first, it will no longer be needed. First install Real Alternative. Second add the proper extensions to the DirectShow decoder: Preferences (Ctrl-P) > Plugins > Input > Double Click "Nullsoft DirectShow Decoder..." > add ";RA;RM" (no quotes) to the end of the extension list. Note: this does not work for .RAM playlist files or rstp:// streams, use the Tara plugin instead (just remove ra & rm from the extension list in tara.ini). Or just use the Tara plugin for ALL Real formats instead. That way it shouldn't revert back to not FS if you use the in_dshow plugin. ![]() #winamp on irc.tehflap.org — Winamp ATF Reference I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER? — My cPro timer widget Do NOT email me with tech support questions. |

Hhm ... and with that I can watch real-video in the original Winamp-video-window???
That would be cool.Does this work only for real, not also for *.mov etc.? When I don't get it done, a reinstallation of Winamp would redo it? ... and is it absolute necessary to uninstall the Real-Player? Burnett Last edited by Burnett; 29th August 2004 at 09:47. |
