Hmm . . . believe me, you don't want it!
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=49692 (gen_nomad.dll) If you've got an SBLive Soundcard & have also installed Creative PlayCenter, chances are you've already got it ?!?! Close Winamp Goto: Winamp\Plugins dir Remove: gen_nomad.dll Try Winamp again. (First, make sure Windows is set to view all files in Folder Options -> View tab) If the file definitely isn't there, report back here & we'll take things from there. |

Well, you have two options here:
1. Search your HDD for the duplicate version of gen_nomad.dll and copy & paste it into the Winamp\Plugins dir. If it's nowhere on your HDD, reinstall PlayCenter2 However, as I've already said, this isn't recommended (due to the problems this dll has been known to cause) 2. Winamp -> Prefs -> Plugins: click "Flush plugin name cache" (first making sure that gen_nomad.dll isn't in the Plugins dir) Close Prefs & exit Winamp *(this is assuming you can get into the Prefs in the first place) Now go back to the Winamp dir. Open Winamp.ini in Notepad & remove any reference to gen_nomad.dll Save & close file. Winamp\Plugins dir Open plugin.ini with Notepad & remove any reference to gen_nomad.dll Save & close file. Now try opening Winamp again. * If you can't even get into Winamp Prefs (Ctrl+P) Whilst in the Winamp dir, also open the file winamp.pic (PlugIn Cache) with Notepad & remove any reference to gen_nomad.dll Save & close file. Let us know how you get on! |

gen_nomad.dll is NOT a component of Winamp.
It is placed in the Winamp\Plugins dir by the PlayCenter2 installation. Neither programs require the file in order to work properly. I've a feeling you maybe removed the duplicate file whilst Winamp was still running? WINAMP.PIC & WINAMP.INI are in the main Winamp dir, not the Plugins subdir. If you can't see them, goto: Start -> Settings -> Folder Options -> View tab. Checkmark: View ALL files Uncheck: Hide extensions for known filetypes. PLUGIN.INI is in the Plugins subdir. They must be there! Just open them all with Notepad & remove all references to gen_nomad.dll If all else fails, then follow the instructions in this thread for a complete Winamp Uninstall -> Reinstall |

Right, for starters, you don't have to click the "quote" button every time you want to make a new post, just click the "Post a Reply" button at the bottom of the page instead.
Secondly, you didn't do what I said regarding: Start -> Settings -> Folder Options -> View tab Hidden Files: Checkmark: "Show ALL files" (You've still got it set to "do not show") Uncheck: "Hide extensions for known file types" Basically, the list of files you provided above is incomplete. I can't even work out which of them are folders or files. Every file will have an extension at the end, eg. a full stop followed by 3 letters, as in your example, vis_punkie.txt This is the readme text file for the Punkie Visualization plugin. The actual plugins will have .DLL as the extension! eg. vis_punkie.dll I'm also not familiar with some of those entries, 'cos I don't have them myself. It also sounds like you've got some WildTangent plugins installed ![]() If uninstalling, make sure you follow the full instructions (as linked to above). You'll also need to uninstall WildTangent from the Add/Rem Programs Control Panel before uninstalling Winamp. You can always run the WT setup again after Winamp is reinstalled. Anyway, to back up Skins: Simply copy & paste the Skins folder to a backup place on your HDD, eg. C:\Backup\ Then, after you have uninstalled & reinstalled Winamp, cut & paste this folder back into the Winamp dir, thus replacing the current Skins subdir. To backup your plugins, simply keep the original setup files you downloaded in a safe place, and run them again once Winamp is reinstalled. If relevant, you may also wish to backup the following: Bookmark List (winamp.bm) Saved EQ Presets (.EQF Files & winamp.q2) Simply copy & paste them to your backup folder, then cut & paste them back into the main Winamp dir later. However, you could fix the whole problem simply by editing the ini files (as outlined earlier) and removing all reference to gen_nomad.dll, but you need to be able to actually see these ini files in the first place (INI & DLL files are classed as hidden files unless you disable this Windows function) In future, don't remove duplicate files whilst the relevant program is still open. Good luck! |
