Bush sucks. /me ducks in attempts to avoid the flying beer bottles.

I'm fed up with the United States Government. Once I'm 18 on August 2nd, I'm moving to a deserted island where I will spend the rest of my days skinny dipping with the millions of nude mermaids that none of you know about! hahahaha!

but seriously folks. Is this campain agaisnt Bushes oil plan really gonna do anything? I "took action" and sent my local governemt dude that Mike D letter thang, but unless 20,000,000 people do the same, their just gonna drill anyway. hmph

can you be that thick-headed?

i knew that many musicians and stars were liberals, but cmon! do you really think that "Mike D." cares about the "Gwich'in" people? I think not. This whole thing is just a way of spreading the democratic party's views across the the young voters. It bothers me that Nullsoft would take part in this, it's quite political. And one more thing, the whole power problem in California is because of thinking like mike d's. People didn't want to build any more power plants, and before they knew it, they had no power, go figure?

Bush sucks?

It bothers me that a stars, because they have a voice, think that voice is relevant. It bothers me even more when others attach relevance to what they say because they are famous. It seems plain to me that most of these "famous" people are just repeating the wacko fluff they hear in the news. Very few people check what they hear for truth. This can be said for both the left, and right wing automons alike. Sorry, I just get tired of all the "the sky is falling" predictions. I think a measured, sensible approach to all forms of energy is a wise choice. Some energy sources that have had problems in the past (nuclear power) should at least be considered without the fear mongering from some. It is doubtful that our consumption of energy will decrease in the future, we need to plan for where we are going, not beat ourselves up for the path we have choosen. Can't turn back now, can we? Sorry for the rambeling.

Um, did anybody except me notice that ever since bush took office, the economy has been going to shit, and that the energy problem has just been getting worse and worse? Just a thought. He cheated himself into office anyways. Yes, I live in CA, so I know about energy probems first hand...

Hey, errr, has anyone ever noticed that nobody's ever advanced "conservation" as a type of energy-saving plan?

Or, uh, some sort of Solar Energy device to put on one's house? If they have 'em here in NC, they DEFINITELY have them in CA.

If most people tried to conserve energy, maybe the crisis might not be so big...

Instead of MAKING MORE POWER PLANTS...

Lets look back to the past, shall we? (this is for those who like to point fingers at bush). GOP takes control of Congress (1994) (there's to blame for your happy economy before Clinton and the rest of the liberals attacked our friends at Microsoft), second, does no one remember their stocks going down the tubes BEFORE November 2000? I sure as heck do. It'll take a hell of more than Bush's 4 years to fix what the liberals have screwed up the past 8.

oh yeah, AWW the poor wildlife in alaska! anyone read the REAL statistics instead of watching/believing the liberal news media?

and having Gore in office would AUTOMATICALLY create energy in California?

all you liberal geniouses. lol

Hey guess what, this isn't Bush's fault. In the very likely chance that you're an idiot hippy liberal (which you are, you live in CA), you wouldn't have noticed the fact that the economy crashed BEFORE Bush took office, during the whole election crisis. What you don't realize is that most of EFFECTS of decisions made by the government don't even come into effect until years later. This is a result of the player himself, mr. dressstainer. If the Bush administration is doing real bad, we won't find out until the next president's term.

Now if you were cool, you'd be making fun of the fact that Dubya makes up words and such. Like Jerry's does. Oo, oo Jerry's.

*Xerxes is glad to see other conservatives on the boards besides RM* =)

The needs of the many outwiegh the needs of the few; we should not put caribou in front of American families- that is typical wrongheaded green thinking.

And I would like to point out that unlike 99% of people in America, including "Mike D", who want to "conserve this precious natural preserve for our chiiiillldren", i have ACTUALLY visited those wetlands on vacation.

I agree, Nuclear power is the way to go. Someone should tell those damn environmentalists that a piece of plutonium the size of a pencil eraser is the equivelant of like, two tons of coal or I think 30 barrels of oil. The meltdown on three mile island was a freak accident, and was from when nuclear power was in it's beginning stages. Nobody even died from it! Even so, the technology to harness nuclear power has multiplied many times over..

Who cares about oil?
Global warming is the real problem. You see, I already live 2 meters below sea level(and no, I'm not Neptune, I just live 1 km east of the lowest point in the Netherlands.
But Bush won't reduce America's CO2 output, which will make it a lot harder for me to keep my feet dry.
I think someone ought to get down to that white house and kick Bush's ass real hard.

That's all for now.

Blamestorming

This is all very interesting.
Especuly the part where this or that politican gets blamed for everything under the sun 2 days after taking office. It is like being made captain of the Titanic 2 munites before the iceburg strikes. I don't care what you do it will not be a good day.
The energy problem in calfornia has several factors, none of them started yesterday or will be fixed tomorow.
First, any time someone has wanted to put a power plant up they had do deal with a lot of protesters with "Not in my backyard" signs. (And, I will bet that these same people went home and expected the lights to work). If the power company deals with that, they have to deal with regulation about everything except breathing. It is no wonder they decided not to try.
Also, the so called "Deregulation" of the power industry was not. If anything it was price controls on the consumer end with a built in time bomb finanualy on the other end.
On top of that, Californa has been trying to outlaw anyting with a tail pipe that they could. Well, That means you have to plug it in.
Yes, I do belive in conservation. I just spent quite a large sum on a new airconditioning system for my house and I have noticed my energy bills much smaller. But the fact remains that you are not going to get 50mpg on a mack truck in the mountains. It is just that simple. Even cave men have built fires to keep warm. Energy is just as much a necesity as food, and water.
I frankly think we need to stop the blame storming and educate ourseves as to what is going on. Don't expect enyone else to do it.
Well, I guess you know what I think, your turn.

You know Nebraska, that was probably one of the smartest things I've heard said on this board. Gazuga salutes you. Would you be interested in a position in his hordes? Oo I wanna add something to the protesters thing. They'll also protest if you try and put the power plants NOT in their backyards, like out in the middle of nowhere because it's ruining the environment. When the Great Gazuga is finished with them, they shall be as ruined as the Evil Antler God!

i hate everybody

Both liberals and conservatives are stupid..neither can agree on one thing or another. If one tries to solve a problem, the other instantly comes up with a reason to put it down.

Im am neither, as I have ideals from both sides. Conservatives are dumb (think segregation) and liberals are also retards (from Armageddon: "(Greenpeace) Stop the drilling!" "(Harry) Do you know how much diesel that clunkerboat pumps out an hour?").

I say, if a system works, don't fix it. CA energy was doing ok until deregulation...Politicians are idiots.

An afterthought: I say build more nuclear plants, then move to Canada (They're the world's #1 producer of uranium) and invest in uranium mining companies

I just thought I'd point out we all knew what we were voting for with Bush. He laid out his plan.. and so far he's kept his promises. Yeah Bush is an idiot. We all knew that when we voted for him. I'd rather see him though, then that stiff Gore. Bush is funny!! He makes up words and stuff. His vice president almost dies lots. Couldn't say that about Gore. All his vice president does is eats kosher. Now as funny as the word kosher is, it just doesn't match up to Bush.

[SIZE=1][FONT=arial][COLOR=crimson][PHP] The world was condemned to a horrible future when baby bush was born and survived for who knows how many years (what if hes a blood sucking demon out to destroy democracy, hes immortal, AHHHHHH! ). i was watching the Daily Show on comedy central, bush made this speech, and i heard him say something about enjoying the environment and filling it with industry. WOW hes such a smart president, hes going to make everyone lose their jobs at yellowstone, damn national parks to hell, and eventually force our cities into giant domes which he is secretly filling with toxic gasses that are slowly killing us.

You all are firmly attached to the mainstream media; you accept whatever it gives you- it is your only information source. You are to it as a baby is to its mothers breast.

The Democrats have a long, long tradition of calling republican presidents "idiots". "Numbskulls". "Morons". They did to Eisenhower, they did to Reagan, and now they are doing it here.

But if you want to talk pure INTELLIGENCE people, lets compare Bush to Al Gore. The "thinking mans" president. Sure. Here's a snippet from
the an article from the Boston Press.

"Gore's undergraduate transcript from Harvard is riddled with C's, including a C-minus in introductory economics, a D in one science course, and a C-plus in another. ''In his sophomore year at Harvard,'' the Post reported, ''Gore's grades were lower than any semester recorded on Bush's transcript from Yale.'' Moreover, Gore's graduate school record - consistently glossed over by the press - is nothing short of shameful. In 1971, Gore enrolled in Vanderbilt Divinity School where, according to Bill Turque, author of ''Inventing Al Gore,'' he received F's in five of the eight classes he took over the course of three semesters. Not surprisingly, Gore did not receive a degree from the divinity school. Nor did Gore graduate from Vanderbilt Law School, where he enrolled for a brief time and received his fair share of C's. (Bush went on to earn an MBA from Harvard).

So why the HELL is it that everyone dogs bush for his supposed IQ of a potato when "Mister intellectual left man" did much worse in school? Shouldn't he be the one all the nastiness is dircted too?

Granted, Bush is not the type of "Captain America" leader that America needs- that wants to make you put on combat boots and rush a Nazi bunker, but seriously people. American politicians often run on the usually false pretense of being "just one of the guys". Well this time we got one and now he's getting the worst treatment ever.

I'm sure its because he wrote a popular book whose name escapes me at the second. It was a very environmentalist book. Gore has a big following among environmentalists. Gore as a senator from Tennessee had somewhat of a following in the democratic party.

I should also say that niether canidate is TOTALLY dumb- If anything it goes to show what someone who has ambition can do in the good old U. S. of A., regardless of "College Smarts". Become governer of texas (bush). Become a popular senator (Gore) Become the damn President!

even "Invent the internet" (gore)...

Bill Clinton choose Al Gore
because he needed someone who would never
steal the spotlight from him,
except to say or do something stupid or dumb
which would make Clinton look better.
And for 8 years that formula worked perfectly for Clinton.

Al Gore once said, trying to look good in congress that "he took the iniative in the invention of the internet"

Out of context, it sounds like he was actually involved. In reality he didnt do barely anything. All he really did was vote to put money into a defense program that was taking the first steps to create what is now the internet. (Darpanet i belive it was)

But then people started trying to say that gore was trying to take credit for the invention of the internet, and the whole thing blew up in his face
