Just wondered what you all thought of this stuff.

At first that "Truth about hell" page freaked me out, but as I started to read other articles on their site, like that P.O.D. one, I relized just how unbelievably over the top it all was. Of course that's just MY opinion.

HAHA.... I thought that was ACTUALLY a christian who was ACTUALLY offended by the movie writing that, until it got to this paragraph...

Stunningly, no one else in the theater seemed too upset about getting fooled into buying a ticket by the deliberately misleading title. In fact, I went from row to row and asked every member of the audience, and you would not believe the reaction I got! The words spoken to me, the names I was called -- I will not repeat them before Christians, but suffice it to say, this was surely a sign of sweeping immorality in our society today. Of course I had my Bible with me, and let me tell you I climbed right up on that stage and read a few passages out of Leviticus and a little out of Revelations, and God gave me a sign by turning off that projector and turning up the house lights! I could hear a lot of whooping and hollering in the audience so I knew that these demon-filled liberals were preparing yet another act of anti-Christian persecution. I knew the LORD was on my side, and stood my ground. Finally a couple of policemen came and showed me to safety, away from the screaming, bloodthirsty liberals, feminazis and militant homosexural activists. Once they get a demon or two in them, they get awfully unruly.

As for the "screams from hell" thing, well, i don't think i need to say anything.

The reason I am not a Christian is that the bible can be so easily manipulated. I mean, if it is the words of God, then he could have made it so that it was unambigous

Hey I'm a religous person - a Christian, and a strong, active one. I agree with very little on those pages, although the original one is based on basic Christian doctrine in a very warped form. No one who has a real relationship with God would write stuff like that. Overly-religous people, as opposed to people who have a relationship with God, are easy to make fun of I'll agree, but keep in mind you can be an active Christian (heavily involved in loads of evangilistic stuff and really loving/being loved by a living God) and cool/interesting/able to have fun too (I listen to tons of rock - Linkin Park (whose DJ and I think MC are Christians BTW), Creed, Counting Crows, Less Than Jake, Muse, Feeder etc..., go out with friends 4 or 5 nights a week, well I'm normal put it that way).

and for the record. my father has been a preacher of multiple christian churches longer then I have been alive, and he is one of the most leval headed people, christian or not, that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and has an extreamly close relationship with God.

So basically, religion can be a beautiful thing, but like anything, there's always the few hard-core devoties who ruin it for the rest.

No, listen. I didn't even goto that site but the quotes I read told me enough. That person is whack. But think about it. There is someone that hates everything. We may not like them, but there is a thing called the Constitution.

There are extremist for everything. Like everyone's favorite Osama. He's the same as this person but on the other side saying that all that "devils music" is good. He's Islamic which I am told repeatedly from CNN that Islam is a peaceful religion. Osama and his crew just warp the truth.

In another example. How many of you knew that the KKK is a group of extremist CHRISTIANS!?!? There's just two sides of everything, thus creating the great equilibrium known as an average. Deal with it.

i'm a catholic, and i must say that i dont know anyone like this. the most fanatical catholics i know are mostly turned inward (that is, homeschooling kids, etc). the problem with fanatics doing this is that they demean the religion and make it seem intolerant and condemning, while also setting themselves up for parody. i'd like to see how these people live, what they do, etc. then follow them around with a tape recorder and spit it all back into thier faces out of context.

So to those fanatics i say:

God is forgiving and loving.
God made us in his image and likeness.
so who's fucked up now?

I'm a Christian, and proud to say it, but some of the arguments that article made dind't really make sense... However, I also think that some of the comments people have made in this thread aren't very nice towards Christians, or people who define themselves through their religion, in general. Don't discount all Christians, etc. as being "crazy,", ok? I see that too many times in these forums. No more double standards.
