Tuning in to a stream.
I had to run a secuirty update in win 2k and some service pack updates. Also I updated Winamp.
My problem now when I click [Tune In] on the brocast directories. I get a window that opens. You have Chosen to download a file form this location. shoutcast-playlist.pls from www.shoutcast.com What would you like to do with this file? [0] Open this file form its current location[*] Save this file to disk This line is grayed out. [/] Always ask befor opening this type of file If I select open this file and click okay the stream works. But I had to do this once before and it set the property to always open in winamp. I know it is just A setting I need to change, but I have looked everywhere I can think of and I can't find it. I just need to get the grayed out line unchecked. I just want to click [tune In] and have it redirect to the next broadcast. Can anyone help me, please. DOA-in-Bali |

Yes, looks like the st00pid Win2k security update has changed all associated MIME types to it's even more st00pid secure versions.
Whereas before, Winamp used MIME/Content Type: audio/scpls for PLS playlists, the security patch has forced it to change to: audio/x-scpls Fear not, this issue is well documented here. The following links include manual and auto registry fixes: From: TSGH -> Useful Links PLS association bug (IE5.5+ security update bug): http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=37700 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=74434 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....322#post468322 * http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=37053 Basically, you'll need to create a new key for audio/x-scpls in: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type This will make InternetExplorer properly recognize the format and you should now be able to uncheck "always ask..." Full instructions are provided in the above links. * This post includes an attached auto fix (pls_reg.zip) (but please read the full thread first & particularly check out the first link) |

Re: Tuning in
Thanks I found the fix real Quick. I feel A little stupid now. I thought I had tried deleting the file type and having Winamp reassociate. But I hadn't that worked.
Thanks for the info and the links. A great source of info. DOA-In-Bali |
