Quoted from my own forums...

I remember well, because we had a great day out and it wasnt until hours into the whole thing that we even found out about it. Myself, Eiteews and Roxy were all out for the day bowling and going to Pizza Hut. I think I first heard off the internet and that made me switch on the TV which was of course completely taken over by the whole thing at that stage.

I'd been in most of the day and turned on the telly about 10 hours after the event. The first thing that appeared was film of a plane crashing into a skyscraper, which I immeadiately ignored as the trailer for the latest Hollywood disaster movie. It was only 5 minutes later, when it was still being shown, that I realised this was for real. Shock waves.

At work. Heard nothing till I got home and put tele on at about 3.15.

It was also the day the old boss left for New York. So Wednesday was fun and games with people ringing up.

in comparative religions in school, the ironic part is that we just finished our discussions on the early muslims with a vid entitled "the sword of islam." obviously the event stretched our discussions on the topic.

wow, some replies are just cold here...

I was playing a MUD(Multi User Dungeon), when someone on the main channel in the MUD started talking about a plane crashing into the world trade centre. I thought the person was making a joke. So, I ask is this a joke? Someone reply no. So, on to www.cnn.com . No luck, can't even get into CNN. So, I ask on the MUD channel, if there is any other website that I can see the news, someone answer www.sky.com . And so off i when to sky. Sure enough, a big headline was shown. So, I look around, and click on the live video feed. In my country, it was 8.30p.m at that moment. I told my parents, they were in shocked. I too was shocked.

Well, that pretty sums up what I was doing on that faithfully day that changed the world forever.

I was just going through my usual monrning routine. After I ate breakfast, I flipped on the radio, and they were covering it. I had to leave for school right after the first tower collasped. School covered a lot of it also.

Me too!

I was at home sick on the couch just flippin' through the channels when I saw the news coverage of the 2nd attack. I wasn't to taken by it at first because it just looked like a movie, until I clued in to the fact that it was an attack and I was in complete shock. My dad was away on a business trip but it turned out he was in New Orleans. Thankfully he was knowhere near the WTC but it was awful to see so many people left frantic and covered in ash and I was Knowwhere nearby that I could lend a hand.

This was a truly horrible act and I'm extremly proud of how people have come together during these unsettling times.

Peace

I was at work - had just come back from lunch to find our web servers were all overloaded with traffic. Couldn't access the news websites so checked the news tv networks and saw what was happening.

I was at school that day. I went ignorantly through my first period math class and towards the end of that, an announcement came on for us all to report to homeroom at the end of the period. I thought nothing of it, its thier standard precedure for report cards, etc. I got into homeroom, flicked on my computer, and got on the internet. I remember thinking about how slow it was. Then the announcement came on. The Principal announced that there had been a terrorist attact on the World Trade Center. He said if anyone needed to come down to the office to make a call, they should.

I was filled with an unspeakable rage, despite the fast that i knew no details. I immediately pointed my browser to cnn.com, to no avail. I bolted to my next class and turned on the tv. My religion teacher tried to go on with class, but then the first tower fell. All of us were just sitting there, powerless to stop the thousands of deaths that we had just witnessed. After that I went to Health class, and we did not watch tv. I got out of that period and found out that the second tower had collapsed. I went to lunch with my friends. We talked about the sadness, and the retribution. After that, I went to Windows Applications. The teacher put on the tv, rigged as best an antenna as he could within the building, and we watched the whole class.

I emailed my parents to make sure that they were alright. I tried everything I could think of to get into #******* to check on everybody, to no avail. I talked with Bizznatch on AIM to make sure that everyone was OK. I remember being worried about Distortion and if he was alright. I came home that night and watched more news.

I woke up the next morning and went to school. People were talking about it, destroying any hope i had that it was merely a nightmare.

missyob made me post this.

two friends and i was at my friends house, having a laugh.

my friend's gf called and told us to watch the tv, because a plane had hit a building. that was just after the first one.

interesting fact: the first thing one friend said was "right. tenner says it's muslim fundamentalists"

i'm still holding out that bush will be exposed as conspiring to cause it, but it's looking more and more like i'm gonna lose a tenner.

//edit-- reading that over, it seems rather heartless. it wasn't, but i'm not really very good at explaining why. just don't take it bad, k?

i was in modwest, first period of the day at school
my teacher is called out of the class by another history teacher. Walks back in looking very stricken, tells us what happened. We didn't know if it was a joke, i actually asked the teacher "is this a joke?"
we turned on a tv and tried to get a good signal from somewhere, to little luck.

want to know what was really ironic about when i found out? we'd just been discussing how certain events can define a period of history

I rolled out of bed and two of my roommates had it on the big screen. My first view was a far of shot of manhattan with smoke everywhere; I first thought there had been a gigantic fire. I couldn't see the towers anywhere, they had already gone.

My other roomate is from New York so I went in and woke him and his girlfriend up and we all sat around for hours watching the tube. No one went to school or anything.

it had been a long day, i was sitting down at about 9:30 at night and it scrolling on the bottom of the show, "BREAKING NEWS! plane crashes into the wtc!!!". me and my bro were like, big deal who gives a f***.... then the station changinged to the news without any warning. it had a picture of the wtc with one hell of a lot of smoke coming from it, we were like "this is worse than i thought". the tv reported a second plane had hit the pentagon now... it was an attack on the usa. i rushed upstairs to wake my parents and explain. by this time i had adrenaline pumping through my body, i was like "shit its like a movie come to life!" as the impact had not hit me yet. it then showed the second plane in crash directly into the second tower, live. i thought HOLY SHIT! OMG... OMG... OMG... OMG... OMG... OMG... OMG... OMG... OMG...
from then on it showed the first tower collapse... then the news of ANOTHER plane crashing in penslvania... then part of the pentagon collapsing... then the only last thing that could happen, the second tower collapsed.

at 1:30 in the morning, over 4 hours of sitting pretty much wthout blinking i laid in bed for another hour trying to sleep, but war was on my mind... payback bigtime.

I had come home from college, i turned on the TV and saw it all happen. I ran upstairs to tell my mum (she was washing her hair, and payed pretty much no attention to me). Then the second plane happened. I yelled at my mum, and that was about it, we sat in front of the TV watching in horror.

I was at school when it happened. Two hours later I arrived at home and turned on the television and watched the news for an hour. Then i got online and spoke to some of my friends. One of them lives in the USA, he had just got up. He hadn't heard it yet so I told him what happened. He wouldn't believe me, so I told him turn on your TV. He did and came back in shock.

I fail to see the point of telling you this but I realize that now that I've already typed it. Oh fuck it.

I sent my kids to school that day and went back to bed because the baby was still sleeping,
I live in a military town - the phone rang first my mother in law called and said something along the lines of someone crashed a plane in the world trade center i said ok im going back to sleep she useally tends to over dramatize things.
as i was hanging up a beep came through it was my childrens school asking me to please come get them becuse school would be closed for 2 days due to the terrorists attacks,
my whole town was pretty much shut down that day n the next.
i have relatives that work and live
close to where that it all happened they were all in shock.....

I've been c0rrupted in a world of make.believe.

(i used to live in union NJ, it was wayy close to nyc, my dad was working in manhattan when it happened, and i could see the dust cloud from my house)so i switched tho chan 2, the only one that worked (for like 3 months) and saw it. it was unreal, and then, i guess i watched news the whole day.
so my dad was trapped in the other part of manhattan for a while, which was no big deal, considering all the loss of life. the dust cloud was HUGE, i mean, i can only usually see tiny sparkle off the skyscrapers of nyc but the dust cloud was big.

I grew up in New York City, lived the first 25 years of my life there. I now live in New Mexico , a two hour time difference from the east coast. The night before 9-11 my girlfriend and I had stayed up really late. At 2 p.m. New Mexico time (4 p.m. NY time) she got out of bed and got on the internet. She woke me up and said, "The Twin Towers are gone!" I was shocked, but somehow knew it was true. We don't have a television, but I had DSL at the time, and was able to get a lot of news on the internet. We both have family back in NY. My sister was actually up the block when it happened. She works on Wall Street. Her best friend from high school was on the 86th floor of one of the towers, and somehow managed to get out before the towers collapsed. The company my father works for had moved from 7 World Trade Center to a building in Jersey a month or two before. I had actually worked there for almost 2 years when I was 20. It was almost a week and a half before I was able to get in touch with all my friends back in the city. I was a wreck! Thankfully no-one I knew was hurt or killed.

It was a very rough day.

I was in the GA world congress center working the international computer show.

There was an immediate big rush of people running about. Alot of important computer people were there ie: Bill Gates.

They immediately started to evacuate the building. After about an hour of attempting to work, I got a call from my mom telling me to get my brother and get the f*** out of the building. I knew it was serious as my mother very rarely swears. My brother was upstairs in the same building working with me. There was some panic, but for the most part people were leaving in an orderly manner. There were so many people there as it was a big convention. The CNN building is connected to the World Congress center so we were kept up with the news.

I left the building and we went and picked up my boys from school. I just kept hugging them and kissing them and telling them that everything would be ok.

My Father was suppose to be in Tower 1 for a meeting, Late the night before the meeting was delayed until that afternoon. I did not know this and thought he was in there.

The company I was working for was in Tower 2.

I walked around in a daze for about a month. The day still haunts me, but not as bad.

~ Missy

September 10th, 2001 I recieved my DSL Box for the internet, so I was able to access the web w/out slow downs, or busy server problems the day after.
That morning (9.11.01), after taking my shower at 6:45am, I switched over the news from the Today show to Good Morning America, and saw a live feed of the World Trade Towers burning. I thought that it was an accident (like most high-rises) that something shorted, and caught on fire, and was burning a few floors of the building. While getting ready, there was another explosion behind the building, it was the second plane. I said, "Oh my god!" They replayed the scene over a couple of times. It was hit, there was nothing we could do, but resume our daily functions. I ate breakfast, and rushed over to school. 1st Period 7:40-8:30am, Great Books. Its a small 8 student class, we decided to get a TV, and watch the New York problem. The internet got knocked down trying to access information, and my school has a T/1 connection, it was feeling like it was 14kbps. The internet ceased to function. Watching the TV, we saw the first tower fall. My teacher was tearing up, some weretalking about the situation, and many were nervous on whats to happen next. 2nd Period Spanish, 8:40-9:40. My teacher never bothered about the situation, kept on teaching.
3rd Period, Chemistry. We watched more of the problem, there was nothing else to do. I then learned that the other tower fell after that, and the Pentagon was hit. Another plane was still in the air somewhere. 4th Period, Aide. Had to work on computers, networking issues. Lunch, watched more of the disaster. By now I also know that the President was somewhere in the air in the United States. Large buildings evacuated, malls closed. 5th Period, Geometry. We were listening to the radio, all the channels had live feed of a major news organization, no Music or talk-shows. 6th Period, we did nothing but sit and talk about the situaion. Our teacher said it was history in the making, how this is a new world, and that this will be made into a major part of American History.
Afterschool, all the roads were empty. Military convoys going down the main roads to protect a bunch of vital areas of my City (Albuquerque, NM). They protected the FAA Building, blocked whole streets from entering. That FAA building is vital because it takes care of the air traffic for a big chunk of the Southwest. Closed their gates for entering the Air Force Base. The airport was on standby awaiting the dozens of extra planes to land from all over the place. By the evening there were military jets flying over the city, circling it, and helicopters. No sign of passenger airplanes anywhere, no airstreams in the sky, no roaring jets taking off/landing. Everything had an eerie silentness because everyone was afraid to leave their houses. Family called, friends called, the internet was restored, and I was watching MSNBC on live data streaming, talking to my friend on Messenger about it. That night I felt it was like a dream, sureal that this all happened. All of it replayed in my mind, over and over. Those images from the TV will never go away, they will be there forever. I can see it all happening again in my head, the destructiveness, giant cloud of dust, the plane hitting, the collapse, the aftermath worth of blocks. Then going to the picture galleries, looking back, retracing the views of what people were looking at, its a thing that will be remembered in American History, and in World History.
Many of you had school cancelled, my school district went on for the rest of the week with classes which was a good thing because it was better to talk and express our emotions instead of watching TV all day for a week with recovery efforts.

I was standing outside my English classroom waiting for class to start and one of my classmates asked me if I'd heard anything about the terrorist attack, and I was like, "what?" So he told me that a plane had crashed into one of the towers, and later on in the day my Anthropology professor cancelled our class because she wanted to go home and see what was going on, so I flicked on the TV when I got home and watched for about an hour. My Mom was glued to the TV for about a week afterwards, as was my girlfriend... Definitely an impactful occurence.

distincly remember being woken up by my roommate's mother calling.

he mentioned it when they were done talking.... or maybe she told me directly... ok, so it's not very distinct. But it was definitely my roommate's mother that informed me and him.

At around 8 am I was at work (a local full service restraunt) and I was just telling a co-worker about this dream I had. The dream started off with me running for my life through a very dense forest. The forest faded away and I was right in front of two very tall buildings. I heard something that scared me so I ran some more. Than the surrounding city twisted and I was confronted by a very large facility, all on one floor, very round. I had a feeling that someone I loved was being attacked and was hurt really bad. I forced my way into the facility and search every room I came accros. It dawned on me that I didn't know anyone that worked in a building like this. I ran back outside to find the forest had replaced the city. I noticed a path to the right of me and just then a large crowd came out of nowhere, screaming and yelling and I was very scared and worried for these people. I followed them for a few seconds. Than my alarm went off and I went to work. After I was done telling my co-workier about this dream, our manager came into the kitchen and told us to come watch the tv. At first, I thought it was odd they were going to let us watch tv instead of work but just then I noticed what they wanted us to watch. The first thing I saw was the first building getting ripped to pieces by that plane. I was instantly feeling confused, angered, worried, lossed, vengfull, patriotic and horrified all at the same time. The first really clear thought that I had was, my nightmare had just came true. The co-worker, who I was talking to about my dream, came up to me from behind and whispered in my ear that I should pay more attention to my dreams from now on. I really didn't want to believe that I had dreamed of being there but when the news showed that the pentagon had been attacked too, I knew that the large, one floor, round facility of my dream was the same building. And the two tall buildings must have been the WTC. It must have been only 2 hours before everything happened that I had the dream. I wish I could have been warned sooner. I could have said something to someone. But since my dreams have been crazy like for years now, I just tossed it up too my wild imagination. Now, however, I will be better prepared for warning sign's in my dreams.

It was the end of 5th and StuCo made an announcement "Terrorist have attacked but we are in no danger currently" or something to that effect... but I thought it was some strange joke until 6th when we watched the news for the next hour and a half. And for the next few classes, and then we had discussions about that day... but we did miss the 12th.
