yeah.... crap ass graphics and poorly done overly thick ugly fog scare the beejebus out of me too, for different reasons i bet though, add the control scheme they picked, i still have flashbacks from that trite.
I liked Silent Hill 4's sound effects on pause. Scared the crap out of me the first time I heard it. (It was 2am and I was taking a piss and heard some baby-like cry/scream in my bedroom.) Other than that, I agree with TDM ^
I can't touch Need For Speed: ProStreet because the suckiness of the game scares me
Oh, wait...
Left 4 Dead is a pretty scary game...Not necessarily scary since a game is only a game, but it's pretty creepy and will get jumpy if you get too relaxed...It "plays" less like a game and more like a movie, which is kinda cool...

Debt collectors do not stay in Vegas. Dead hookers stay in Vegas, but the guilt stays with you forever." - Bill Schultz
meh, left 4 dead was awesome, untill i beat all 4 *cough* extremely short *cough* 5 mission campaigns and got bored with the general laziness coupled with non linear levels and uninstalled it.
that and there's what? 5 weapons you can get not counting throwable/one time use crap?
nah i got probably 2 or 3 runs of each campaign before it felt half assed, mind you that's only about an hour each campaign.
main issue was the lack of content, to be honest though, there's always bottlenecks that are never going to be in the same exact places, the big fights are always going to be scripted to be in the same place (tank and end campaign stuff reffered to as "big", since the AI is shit and just swarms massive numbers to make itself seem difficult mainly), there's never going to be more than a handfull of weapons or a lot going on you haven't experienced to a point it seems new still.
i'm not saying i don't like the concept, hell the concept is awesome, a game that adjusts the AI to how well you're doing and is supposed to squeeze all the replay factor out of the same levels as possible, it's just a bad execution, bottlenecks because of non linear levels and the big things to watch out for always being in the same point/progession kind of kill the idea they were going for is all, with a decent expansion or some serious modding it could have a huge increase in replay value.
oh and, there's less than 10+ non melee/thrown weapons, how lame is that, all else aside.
I'd have to say doom 3 at midnight blanket on the window (just in case) lights out. Surround sound up to max. That did a number on my brother. Wasn't all that scary though I think I giggled more at the "scary" part's then anything. I especially enjoyed killing things...
