There has been interesting gaming news recently that has implications beyond the games in question.
Epic and Blizzard for example, deciding to take control of their own distribution.

Hey for real though, I'll take this over if there are no objections. I don't mind writing a monthly thread "This month in gaming" to try and get the conversation going! Sounds like a nice easy project to do.

I don't know how much can be done without admin access at all (assuming there still isn't anybody active with it, since otherwise you could implement a whole load of other spamfighting measures).

Read only will still attract the spammers, who will then post in other sections.
Removal or hiding will stop people finding it in google (after a while), so not come here anyway.
Alternatively, make problem sections hidden to the outside unless logged in.
I assume you cannot change the robots.txt file, so make some sections not public.

In the darkest night, in the outermost reaches of space, in those places where the brave and the just fear to tread...
The Frisian Spam Fighter seeks out the evil doer and smites them with great... smiteliness.
Dammit, it's a word now.
Smiteliness - adj., to smite really effing hard.

NL: Alles prima, dank je. Ik ben er nog zeker een paar keer per week, al post ik lang niet altijd.
EN: All's fine, thanks. I'm still here a few times each week even though I'm not always posting.

Also maybe Winamp for Android. That app is really really (really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really) old and pretty much out dated. Surprised when I read people still use it, but it's another spam farm for mostly android related stuff

Can you make them read only (like the Winamp3 forum, which still exists, I just checked)?

whatever you do , don't kill General Discussion

and the lost winamp boys en girls always go there on their return to the forum
the rest i couldn't care less about those subforums.

Agreed, These subforums made sense when winamp was active, but since most people come here for shoutcast/winamp related things now, might as well close all community center subforums down (except maybe the general discussion)
