Warez == $$$?

Ok, I have a slight dilema. In town there are three photostudios. They take senior pictures, family pics, graduation, etc, but are expensive as all hell, and one kinda sucks. I was thinking, I made my own senior pics (post ur pic thread) and I am doing my own graduation pictures, why not do other peoples (ie, my friends from school) and chrage like half of what the other people do? I can use photoshop to do all teh nifty lil colour, sepina, blk/white, etc efffects, plus, I'll remove blemishes is they ask (bags under their eyes, zits, etc (god I love the healing brush!)). The delima I am in is that my version of photoshop, well lets jsut say a good buddy naked azza, K. gave it to me. The only reason that I havn't bought it for myself is because it is hella expensive. So what do you all think about this? If I do anybody's pictures, it will only be a few people, it's not like I am staring a buisness or anything, and I do plan on legally obtaining the software in the future, jsut right now money is tight, and I can't. So, is this ok, or do you all think I'd run into some legal problms and I shoudl jsut drop it?

My personal stance has always been to not make money off of warez, but of course being the basturd I am that would probably change if I could make money. I'd be inclined to make the money then spend it on a legal version.

If you make money using warezed software (doesnt matter if it's your os or the paint program) then you're lower than low.

Problem is, if you start advertising that you will do graduation pictures, you are pretty much advertising the fact that youa re using some form of paint package. The powers that be, who enforce copyright protection, make note of this and will probably pay you a visit (or will at least start mailing you warning letters) before long.

I used to think that they were idle threats until a guy I used to work for got paid a fisit, followed by a pretty hefty fine.

Having said that, you'd probably get away with it if you were only doing it for a short period of time, say the length of a graduation....

If you have a linux box, put Gimp on it and then pass off that you used gimp, as Phily suggested. Just make sure you can hide your window's box quickly.

try to get a cheap legal version - ask nekkied azza K. for an elder version and buy an update. Then you have a full, registered version for half the price and noone can do any harm to you ...

dude what a moral dilema you got :P ok look your not going to hell for doing this so fuck it. If its for you and some friends and you need the money who cares what you use. Somebody ask you, you just say its not your business. Your not selling the product your just using it to make something.

I've never used warez to make money... just to save money. But if you can get away with it and you plan on buying the straight version anwyays, than I don't see why not.

That's the reason that are a lot of warez.
Some for the MP3 music, those industries are making products
that are way out of the people wallets....
What people do? Alternatives to have more cheap... or
not paying at all...to have those products.

that is what I planned on doing actually, and I only planned on advertising (advertising = telling people) about my service and doing this for maybe another 2-4 weeks while graduation was still big in people's heads, they maybe start up again a bit in august/sept when people will be getting senior pictures done. That is it. Just kids at my school, no posters, banners, etc, i'm just tellnig people and showing them what I did with my own pictures. I suppose if I got into any trouble, I could say that I scanned the images in and used the school's version, tehn used a CD or whatnot to transfer to my home computer where i used gimp. idk. I think I am going to do it anyway. If anyone even does "hire" me it will at most be like 5 people, and I am suer adobe and company have better hitns to do than track down a high school kidwho made less than 500 bucks using their program, esp since that kid will eventually pay many times that amout to get a legit version.
