I don't know whether you have an N router or a G. I have no G devices, so I have set my router to only use N. This is not the default setting. Mostly routers and wifi in your machines will use whatever is there. I just change to using only N because it ups the speed. I think in Germany you have extra channels. 12-15. Your router might be set to use them, and perhaps your devices aren't?
It's legal to carefully use channels 12 and 13 in the US, but Windows has them disabled. My router will do them. Linux will do them. Windows gets in the way by not letting you select them in the driver.
So maybe you are trying to hook a G device to a router that's been set "N only". Maybe you don't have the channels the router is using configured. Hard to tell.
