      I like my quantum, it's served me well. but i'd rather got for an ibm one for the speed, rather than having a quiet drive

        Maxtor has bought from Quantum their HDD division. So Quantum no longer makes HDD anymore. BTW, there is a newer model of Deskstars, the 60GXP. So far, I've heard the 60GXP range is more reliable than the 75GXP range.

        75GXP is a 15GB per platter while 60GXP is 20GB per platter.
        I would recommend the 60GXP over the 75GXP. Storagereview has some great reviews of HDD and other storage devices.
