I saw the "winamp for creators" on the frontpage...
I figured: "hey, I've been a reviewer until they changed the website, have been making AVS presets since 2000 so I guess that should interest me."

... let's just keep it short: it didn't.
I stumbled over a greedy MySpace beta release with - even worse - a rather static gradient background.
Nothing on it is about content for the player itself - just some mumbojumbo for attracting music artists - as if they don't even care about the player itself.
If a money grab is all that there is it, then count me out as a reviewer.

What I want, is a platform to share preset packs for AVS, Milkdrop, classic and modern skins, and hopefully exciting new things that may come with 6.x
Even Deviantart is all about images nowadays and Winamp is old enough to provide a better platform than it had.

Last edited by old and quite mad; 12 March 2023, 01:59. Reason: incorrect thread
The search for the ultimate signature continues apace. I have journeyed from the peaks of Nepal to the depths of oceanic trenches. I have crossed deserts, jungles, swamps, savannas, steppes and frozen wastelands. I have consulted with seers, swamis, sages, scholars and savants. The peregrination proceeds purposefully.

WotL... I have to say, those that know WinAMP know your work and respect your assessment. With that in mind, those trying to censor your thoughts must not know WinAMP very well.

I liked the program (or now "app") because:

1.) the ability to play music from a computer's hard drive (although there were other players that could do this)
2.) the ability to add/remove components based on what I wanted on my screen
                      3.) user/community created visualizations
                      4.) user/community customized skins
5.) user/community created plugins (this should probably be higher on my list)
6.) the lack of ugly annoying ads wasting my screen real estate, and
                      6.) the llama whippin' intro

Winamp was focused on the user and the player including functionality, community creative input, and customization of the features/layout. This is why users downloaded the player.

Now, at least on initial appearance, it sounds like it's about someone else.
