I downloaded the newest version of Adaptec easy CD creator and didn't like it so I got rid of it. My DELL came with a basic version that works very well for me, I don't know why I even tried the new version. Well, now when I want to make new Wav CDs from MP3's it says that extension is not recognized. I was going to call the company, but it seems that people on here are much smater then those in the software companies. So, what do you think the problem could be?******

Some of those software installs have different install options, one being mp3 support. Are you sure taht there isn't a custom install for adaptec??
On a side note, Nero is far superior burning software. There's a free download available at their homepage, which can be easily cracked.Like my photography? Buy some here....

Try to find version 5.5.7.2.

you have to get a mp3 codec, you can get it if you download this mp3 converter-app that gives you the mp3 codec, and then uninstall it cos it's a real crappy app
It's free, and it's the best out there.

Lame is an MP3 encoder. There's the EXE version which can be used externally by ripper programs like AudioGrabber or ExactAudioCopy, there's the DLL version, which can be used internally by said programs, and there's the ACM version which allows Lame to be used in programs like VirtualDub which can't use DLL or EXE based encoders.
Lame is the best MP3 encoder in existence, quality-wise.
As I said, it can be used with a CD-ripper, or it can be used to convert WAV to MP3 by itself via a DOS commandline, or it can be used in the frontend RazorLame.

Out of interest, the newest version of CD Creator is made not by Adaptec but by Roxio. So your s/w sounds out of date.
