  • Adaptec CD Creator is not recognizing MP3 files??????

I downloaded the newest version of Adaptec easy CD creator and didn't like it so I got rid of it. My DELL came with a basic version that works very well for me, I don't know why I even tried the new version. Well, now when I want to make new Wav CDs from MP3's it says that extension is not recognized. I was going to call the company, but it seems that people on here are much smater then those in the software companies. So, what do you think the problem could be?******

    Did it actually work before?

have you got the original installation CDs?

If so, erase the program from your computer (/control panel/add remove programs) and then re-install it.

Some of those software installs have different install options, one being mp3 support. Are you sure taht there isn't a custom install for adaptec??

On a side note, Nero is far superior burning software. There's a free download available at their homepage, which can be easily cracked.

          i know that problem

you have to get a mp3 codec, you can get it if you download this mp3 converter-app that gives you the mp3 codec, and then uninstall it cos it's a real crappy app

I agree Nero is the best, but the latest version (5.5.7.8) on their download page is not easily cracked. As a matter of fact, a friend of a friend of mine tried to upgrade his cracked version to the latest version and it detected the invalid reg number and switched Nero back to a demo. Try to find version 5.5.7.2.

Just use the LAME mp3 codec.

It's free, and it's the best out there.

Lame is an MP3 encoder. There's the EXE version which can be used externally by ripper programs like AudioGrabber or ExactAudioCopy, there's the DLL version, which can be used internally by said programs, and there's the ACM version which allows Lame to be used in programs like VirtualDub which can't use DLL or EXE based encoders.

Lame is the best MP3 encoder in existence, quality-wise.

As I said, it can be used with a CD-ripper, or it can be used to convert WAV to MP3 by itself via a DOS commandline, or it can be used in the frontend RazorLame.

I downloaded RazorLame and then put in a music CD. I ran the software it doesn't do anything. I am under the impression that it will rip CD's.

I went to the LAME site and didn't see anything to download, they just talked about LAME a lot.

                      but back to the codecs...

verify that you have an MP3 codec isntalled.

start > control panel > multimedia > devices > audio compression codecs

youre looking for Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer 3 codec.

                        I see;
                        Crfeative SB Live! Value (WDM)
                        Game port for CreativeSB Live!
                        Video Codecs
That's under hardware in Sounds and Multimedia. I don't see any Adio compression though.

Out of interest, the newest version of CD Creator is made not by Adaptec but by Roxio. So your s/w sounds out of date.

Blech. I had that exact same problem. It would stall when I tried to burn a CD too. Get some other burning software. Nero is supposedly very good. I wish I had it. *sigh*
                            Neargh.
