I'm not worried Merlin. MP3 compatible software will be around for years to come. When the next digital format comes (and it surely will) I'll use that for new music.
It's all personal choice - you have your 20th century compact-disc (with 10 tracks on it). I have my 21st century database, complete with everything you could want.

So what's the deal with downloading MP3's now? I read something on Slashdot about them only being able to prosecute people that SHARED MP3s, and not people that downloaded them? Any ideas?

Well, if nobody shared then no-one could download! p2p requires sharing does it not?

No. With Kazaa, for instance, you can disable sharing. As you say though, that kind of defeats the point
