  • Broadcasting from ONE Linux box???

Oh I've tried digging it out of the various forums and multitudes of web sites regarding Shoutcasting using Linux. Here's what I want to do:

Shoutcast from one (Mandrake) Linux box using XMMS as the source, right there on the same box. I've tried installing Oddcast, but it is telling me I don't have the Ogg Vorbis packages (which I do).

I like how things are currently running as far as the listener being able to see what track is currently playing (I use a Windows/Winamp source right now with the DSP, but I'd like to free up that box to do other things, like sound creation/editing).

    Any suggestions/pointers?

    peace!

      permission denied

Oddly enough, when I run the Makefile, it gives me a permission denied (even though I've su-ed to root. I checked changed the Ownership (CHOWN and CHGRP) to root and I still get the same error.

Should I be running this install from any certain directory?

Before I changed it, all the files were set to user/group 500. ???? Weird.

Also, would you know whether I could just stream right from the /content directory in Shoutcast?

peace and thanks for your response!!! I realize some of this is having to do with being not the sharpest Linux user in the drawer. Although I've been using it for a few years now.

Just FYI the Content directory is just a simple webserver for static mp3 files, it serves no purpose as to actually sourcing the server.

This should have been made alot clearer in the config file but oh well can't be too picky about free software.
