SHOUTcast RMO = SHOUTcast Radio Manager Online

This is where you create a profile and add new SHOUTcast stations.

Note how there are two different options when adding stations...

    FAQ

    1. What is the difference between SHOUTcast Streaming Service (SCSS) and SHOUTcast DNAS?

    SCSS = Hosted by shoutcast.com
With SCSS, you generate the stream on your computer and send it to our SCSS server.
Listeners then tune-in to your stream on our server.
The SHOUTcast DNAS server is not used or required for SCSS stations.

DNAS = SHOUTcast Distributed Network Audio Server.
Broadcasters use this to either host the station themselves,
or 3rd-party SHOUTcast Hosting Providers use it to host the station for you.
The self-hosted solution isn't ideally recommended for newcomers...

Make sure you select the correct station type when registering!

    2. What is an authhash? Why do I need one?

    AuthHash = Authorization Hash
Note: Although it's a commonly used typo, there's no such thing as an "autohash".

You need to register SHOUTcast DNAS v2 streams in the RMO to get an authhash.
You then enter the authhash into the DNAS admin or config file (sc_serv.conf)
which will then allow the stream to be listed in the SHOUTcast YP Directory.

    3. I'm upgrading from SHOUTcast v1. What do I put in the AuthHash field on the registration form in the RMO?

SHOUTcast v1 didn't use the AuthHash system, so you should leave the field blank and let the system generate a new authhash for you.

You would only put an existing AuthHash in this field if you are upgrading from an older version of SHOUTcast v2.

    4. What bitrates are supported for monetization?

    MP3: 32, 64, 128, 192, 256, 320 kbps
    AAC: 32, 48, 64, 96, 128 kbps

    5. How can I change my main genre?

Go to the Settings => Information tab in the RMO

Here you can remove and add genres and can also rearrange the order by dragging the genres into place.
Whatever genre is first in the list (leftmost) will be the main genre that the station is listed under in the SHOUTcast Directory.

Note that the genres in the RMO are actually the Radionomy genres, and not the SHOUTcast genres.
The RMO genres are mapped to the same or closest possible matching Shoutcast equivalent.

If you require your station to be listed under a specific Shoutcast genre that can't be achieved via the selection process in the RMO, then do not hesitate to contact us (via the contact form or provided email address) with your request.

    6. I get an error message when trying to create/add my station. What should I do?

Make sure all fields are completed properly.
Make sure the station logo isn't too large (we recommend going no larger than 400x400px)

Check that there's no empty fields in your Profile

Note: You should definitely provide accurate info if you ever wish to be paid for generating revenue via our monetization program.

If the error message relates to the station name not being available, then contact us via the provided support email address.
The most common cause of this problem (and one which can easily be resolved by our Support Team) is if you ever registered the station name under Radionomy, as both Radionomy & SHOUTcast share the same databases...

Another potential cause is if the station has already been submitted to the Radionomy database as an external station.
You can confirm this by searching for the same station name on radionomy.com.
If this is the case, and you are the proven station owner of that same station, then we can convert the database item into a DNAS station to be associated with your RMO account instead

If the error message doesn't specify the reason or provide an email address, you can use the Contact Form

Make sure you include the following in ALL correspondence:

    - Your RMO Account Email Address
    - The exact name of your station
    - The Stream URL of your station, if one already exists
    - Details of the error/problem

If the problem relates to a station you've already added to the RMO, but you're having issues with it that you can't resolve yourself, such as: You cant change the name / genre(s) / website in the authhash or YP, or your station isn't listed in the YP, or anything else - then contact Support and explain the problem clearly.

Do NOT delete/disable your station or account.
Most issues can easily be resolved by our Support Team.
