  • My last payment in December 2022 (referring to December 2021 earnings in USD) and then I received another payment also in December 2022 (referring to February 2022 earnings in Euros). I need to cash out more than 500 Euros and targetspot/shoutcast is more than a year behind on payments. After having written him three emails to which I have not received an answer, since April 1st I have stopped broadcasting advertising on my radios until I get paid... I advise you all to block advertising, maybe if we do it many people will move ( then for what little they are paying now it's not even worth advertising anymore).

Curious. Are you using the new Shoutcast Easy service that’s $50/yr? I wanted some feedback on it to see if it’s the same old story lol.

Understood, so far their free option really sucks right now, only had ads play one time last week.

          • This problems exist since the 2019's.
It broke my heart to see what happend to Winamp (latest -> unusable version), Shoutcast (latest -> unusable version) and the gold old AOL/Nullsoft times.

The latest DNAS server (2.6.1) is buggy as hell (Linux / Windows).
Ad insertion and sync are external which can cause issues/bugs in the same remote controlled static software (and version).

For example (2.6.1): Our ad monetization is working, but...
            1) For every ad insertion the stream stop by browser (ex. HTML player), cause in some HZ/kbps changes (from stream to ads or similar). Affect listen-time-pl. (drop massively).
            2) If DNAS is online for too long (see the Ad-IDs, every connect/request = +1) it don't work any more -> get laggy or crash in memory overflow; Example issue: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc' what(): std::bad_alloc
            3) Detection of HZ/kbps for source stream is buggy and unstable which affect ad delivery (for example: "wrong audio format"); In our case sometimes DNAS "recognizes" [email protected] (instead of [email protected]).
            4) Ads are cut out far too early at the end as it switch back again to stream - including part 1)
            5) Some memory leaks and extrem poor CPU performance (it's only one-core optimized, tested in Linux version) - btw. the 64bit version including mostly 32bit libraries. Yeah... Windows XP in a nutshell.

The "new" Shoutcast Easy is based on Icecast2, not Shoutcast v2.
Seems the time is over for Shoutcast/DNAS v2 when the core team switch to Icecast2 with plugins for monetization instead of it's own DNAS.

They are very slow, too slow... They have goals they never reach (fast enough). I saw it the last 4-6 years...
Sounds like: Too many work, too less worker.

Other companies (competitors) are suspicious of Shoutcast and don't understand how it's a legal way to "rip off" people.

But yeah, let's wait and hope. Like always.

Maybe I test the next days the
AWESOME NEW SHOUTCAST EASY PREMIUM HIGH-END GOLD PLATINUM PACKAGE
powered by Icecast2 (or something like this because DNAS s*cks)

            lol, stay safe guys!

            • Maybe I understood why nothing works on targetspot anymore, neither the commercials nor the arrears. Read this article...

Yeah, they've given up. Shoutcast will probably be the reason online internet radio gets forgotten in the future. It's the same on their ShoutCast Easy paid plan I'm currently testing.. A LOT of inconsistency, bugs, low server reliability (reboots every few days.) Not worth the $50 at all. I can't even see current listeners properly without looking on my own encoder stats. They use ice cast for the paid service as well. Ads SOMETIMES play when listeners first connect but it's very buggy and often leaves them to dead air. Never plays when triggered.

Yep, this is my exact experience on Shoutcast Easy, feels so unfinished, the admin web interface is so unorganized and buggy. The live listener part works 10% of the time and is very delayed. The graph is unhelpful. Can't see detailed listener stats or history. Best part? majority of stations got 0-18 listeners on the master ice cast server (master.shoutcast.com). Shoutcast doesn't list our radio in their own directory on their own server. Ads ..what ads...fill rate is 3%. Triggering is..non existent.
