  • Changed IP problem

I have been running a server for a while now, but it changed ip a couple of days back and since then I can't connect.

    What I have tried :

In Shell : killed and restarted sc_serv, no problems (says it's up and running)
Checked the conf. file : everything seems to be ok

So the problem is : Sc_serv is running on the server, but i cant connect to myserver:8000

    Any ideas o'shoutcast gurus ?

No firewalls I assume? How about DNS... can you connect using the new IP? A little more info would be useful here.

What are you trying to connect from/with? a Browser? the DSP (source)? an Audio Player?

What is the location of the application in relation to the DNAS -- are they both on the same LAN? is one an internet away? or are you trying to use the internet address to access the DNAS on the same LAN?

"...it Changed IP..." It's super important which IP address changed -- the internet address? or the LAN IP of the DNAS box?

It's also pretty important if you have a router to which you have created a port forwarding config -- if this is the case, AND the LAN IP of the DNAS is now different from your static [and now stale] port forward config, you just have to touch your port forward config to reflect the new DNAS IP.

Sorry about the lack of info :

Shoutcast is running on a remote box, not my machine. So the server changed IP.Setup is any IP can connect with the password. I've tried to connect with a browser and Winamp(no use wasting time with that atm)

And no : When i try to connect to the new ip it says : No website configured at this adress

If that's *exactly* the message you see, usually that's an IIS message when host headers aren't being passed. Which makes me wonder if you're aimed at the right server. Is your remote box behind a firewall? Do you manage the remote network, or is there someone you can call there to make sure everything is configured on that end?

No forewall settings in Cpanel , and why should they all of a sudden add a firewall ?

Ya know, I think you're probably starting at the wrong place. I see Port 80, 25, 110 open on that IP, but not 8000.

Call the hosting company - you're paying them. They should help you. Good luck!

You need to post your log -- especially the part right after your source has connected. I'm sure you'll see some errors.

It may also be possible that your LAN/WAN setup may not be able to support local hosting of servers -- servers are generally a security hole, and you can't have it both ways -- you can't be 100% secure and a content provider at the same time. The two are mutually exclusive.

The IP you gave returns a CPanel website -- is this your firewall? You would probably benefit by reading some of the documentation for the "stuff" you have, so you can get a better understanding of what is going on.

I am at a loss to tell you what to do next, since I really cannot tell what is happening on your LAN -- in general, it takes some planning to design a network to do what you want, and at this point I don't really understand what your layout consists of.

Do you know how to determine the server's new IP?

This is a remote linuxserver with a Cpanel setup, and I can read the IP from there.

                      This is the sc_serv.log :

                      <05/11/05@19:42:00> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/Linux v1.9.4 (Mar 17 2004) starting up...

<05/11/05@19:42:00> [main] client main thread starting

Dotme is probably right : Does anyone know how to open port 8000 from shell since I probably can't use 80, 25 or 110 ?

Dotme is right : I did a portscan and it seems Cpanel updated it's software a couple of days back, closing most ports in the prosess.
                        Port 21 is file transfer
                        Port 25 is smtp
                        Port 80 is http
                        Port 110 is smtp

I never use the mailserver, does anyone know i i can steal an open port from it ?
