  • Broadcast is Slowed Down

I am using the latest versions of Shoutcast and Winamp to broadcast on an Internet radio station. While all the other djs on the station sound fine, my broadcasts do not. The pitch is off, as everything is slowed down. It is like a 33 1/3 LP playing around 28. I timed part of one song as I played m computer file of it , versus hearing it via my broadcast. In a 40 second segment, it took 2.9 seconds longer to hear it via the broadcast.

Everything sounds fine in my headphones while I am broadcasting. As others hear it, however, it is slow. I have tried un-installing Shoutcast and re-installing it, but that does not help.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

do you have an intro file?

    post a listen link.

it can sometimes be a problem with all the frequency settings from shoutcast dsp and soundcard.

ensure your soundcard is running at 44100hz samplerate
      and not 48000hz

              Soundmax Digital Audio onboard cards
are plagued with problems, you only have to
google the device to know it is bad.

I would surgest a new soundcard, that will most
probably cure the problem you are having.

Thanks very much! I will replace the sound card and see what happens. Do you have any suggestions for what to replace it with?

If you are joining a stream that already has audio in the buffer make sure the number of channels matches (i.e. mono vs. stereo).
