"connect at startup" in winamp dsp plugin doesn't work

If I tick the "Connect at startup" option, it is just unticked when I reopen winamp. However the plugin seems to connect everytime i open winamp without having the "connect at startup" checkbox ticked.

Really weird any explenations?

Are you running Winamp with administrator privileges?
(Right click onto winamp's shortcut, select "Run as Administrator..." and enter your credentials for an user with administrative privileges)

as caraoge stated you must run as administrator this is a known problem with vista.

This is a known bug and also does the same thing on xp sometimes.

i wouldnt worry too much as i can only assume with sc_trans2 handling dj connections there will be no more development on the dsp.

I think I'm seeing the same problem, but just want to be sure I'm understanding it.

Is the bug that the DSP will try to connect on startup, even when the "Connect at startup" box is not checked?

If so, are there any workarounds? Unlike the original poster, I don't want Winamp to connect automatically. For the time being, I'm simply selected none as the active DSP plugin, although I don't know how to confirm that the DSP still isn't furiously trying to connect. It's a shared server, so I don't have access to its logs. It could be quite embarrassing if it actually manages to connect when it's not my turn to be using it.

FWIW, yes it's Vista, and yes, I use "Run as Administrator" to run Winamp.

physically check the output?

it doesnt happen that often and there is no workaround & you just need to keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid it happens pretty consistently for me.

Is there an output log on the Winamp side that I can check? I don't see anything in Winamp for setting or finding the log directory.

Also, I assume that when you say to close the DSP that that's the same as deactivating it through preferences? Or is there a simpler way?
