  • Slow kib rate when streaming from soundcard

I have just downloaded the newest version of Winamp and the Shoutcast DSP and installed them on my brand new Asus PC. When I have the input source set to Winamp my stream is perfect and broadcast through my website with no problems, but when I switch the input to the soundcard my upload speed (kib) slows right down and nothing gets broadcasted.

I have a laptop I stream live from when I am at different locations and it works fine when I want to plug in my mixer and mics to interview guests.

Both are running Windows 7 - the only difference is my laptop has Winamp 5.623 and my desktop is running 5.63

I am not that technical but I get by lol.

    Any help would be great.

    Slow Bitrate

I'll second that. I've tried this on two machines running XP with the same results: The "normal" bitrate when set to "Line In (Legacy Mode)" is about 100 bps, nowhere near the 32k its supposed to be. If I switch the "Input settings" sampling rate from 22K to 44K (or back) then it starts sending normally.

Also, if I select 22K or 44K *mono*, Winamp just curls up and dies and disappears with no crash message at all.

When the Input Device is set to "Winamp (Recommended)" it generally sends just fine, though its been playing at half speed lately.

From here the whole program seems buggy as heck. What's going on? Is there a better solution?

    Thanks!

    Thumbs Up!

it's really good to know that people look at the relevant release threads before posting about something which has been talked about for the last few weeks and is even clearly noted in the known issues section -> http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?p=2882214#known as point #3 (though makes me wonder why i bother at times to keep those sort of things up to date as both of you seemingly haven't bothered to look).

so a new release (v2.3.2) will be out in the coming week which resolves the issue including all of the crash issues when switching.

        Thanks!

Sorry for not finding the item on my own. For those of us new to Shoutcast, there's a lot of information, and my search for soundcard-related issues did not lead me to that post.

Thanks for the pointer, I will try 2.2.3.

        Thumbs Up!

check your personal messages, i've sent you a link to a fixed build rather than having to drop back to v2.2.3 which was only suggested in the known issue before i had a fixed build (as of this weekend).
