  • Genre Showing Up As Misc Even Though sc_trans.conf Defines Different Genre

    Hello,

    I'm using sc_trans TRANSCast/posix(linux x64) v2.0.0.54 and when I define a genre of 'Top 40' in sc_trans.conf the genre displayed from SHOUTcast DNAS/posix(linux x64) v2.2.0.86 is 'Misc'. How do I properly define a 'Top 40' genre?

    Here is my sc_trans.conf file:

    logfile=/var/log/sc_trans/sc_trans.log
    calendarrewrite=0
    encoder_1=mp3
    bitrate_1=128000
    outprotocol_1=3
    serverip_1=127.0.0.1
    serverport_1=8000
    streamid_1=1
    encoder_2=aacp
    bitrate_2=48000
    outprotocol_2=3
    serverip_2=127.0.0.1
    serverport_2=8000
    streamid_2=2
    streamtitle=Pure Party
    streamurl=http://pureparty.org
    genre=Top 40
    playlistfile=/home/preston/sc_trans.playlist
    shuffle=0
    xfade=0
    usemetadata=0
    adminport=0
    mp3quality=1
    nextlookahead=0

    by changing it in the authhash via the DNAS's configuration options. that is where the genre is controlled in v2. the genre from the source is only used when you generate a new authhash (if it can be mapped to one of the allowed values) or when you are running a private stream.

      I updated the Genre in via URL sid=1&mode=register&register=update yesterday to Pop and Top 40. It seems to have updated fine via the URL but still showed Misc in the YP. Today when I checked sid=1&mode=register&register=update the genre reverted back to Misc in the DNAS URL as well. The source has not disconnnected and the DNAS has not restarted. Any ideas on how to get the Genre to stay to what I set it as?

        you have to disconnect the source (and if that doesn't work then restart the DNAS) for the changes to show in the DNAS and against the listing. it's just one of the many bugs in that it won't update whilst the stream is still running.

        and if the genre has 'reset' then either it's someone else or something has reset it or it's a YP error in not updating the value into the db correctly. as updating from the DNAS can take a short while to update (assuming that the update worked i.e. done from a machine with the same IP as the authhash was created from).

          DrO,

          I have restarted the source and the DNAS and the genre is still showing up as Misc and Not Pop/Top 40. How would I go about getting the genre to be listed in the YP as Pop/Top40 and not Misc?

            it needs to be done in the authhash of the DNAS server as per http://wiki.winamp.com/wiki/SHOUTcas...ement#Updating

            that's all i can say to do based on what has been previously noted in this thread. if it keeps not working, i would need to be pm'd the authhash and the address of the DNAS server.

              I PM'ed you the info you requested as updating the authhash according to the instructions is not working.
