  • Sending song title and artist from player other than WinAmp

I´m currently using RadioDJ instead of WinAmp for managing my radio due to some useful characteristics. (I use WinAmp v5.666 with NullSoft SHOUTcast source DSP plugin).
¿Does anybody know how to send song title and artista to SHOUTcast server from RadioDJ?

you would need to consult the RadioDJ forum / documentation on what it allows you to do (as i briefly tried to install RadioDJ but the mysql requirement was a no-no for me - for something it requires to run, it should be able to install things itself imho).

additionally, check section 5.1.2 of the documentation provided with the DNAS for the 'updinfo' method which is what needs to be used for manual title / metadata updates.

Thanks for your time. I know how to export next song data from RDJ but DNAS is still very cryptic for me (Im a journalist, not a techie!)

if you're connecting RadioDJ to the DNAS (i don't know if that's what you're doing or not as you've not provided much information to go on), then it really should be passing on the metadata that you're providing to/from it without having to export things and manually send the information (at least that's how any decent SHOUTcast compatible source will work).

maybe if you can clarify the setup a bit more then i can offer a different solution. otherwise, sending a web-request to the DNAS is the only way to manually update the stream metadata (be that something you do, or find a script to do or just get a decent source client to do it automatically for you - just like the Source DSP does - which you reference).

DrO You should know full well the reason RadioDJ doesn't come with MySQL bundled with it is due to Licencing issues! Oracle won't allow it to come with an installer for mysql.

it's Not the developer of RadioDJ's fault! If you can't be bothered working with SQL then that's your choice. Don't just tell others that they shouldn't use a product because of it!

          Back to the OP:

If your encoding software supports metadata from a text file just point it to pick up from the C:\NowPlaying.txt file, you can set where you want the Now playing text file to populate to from the Now playing info plugin within RadioDJ.

I recommend using Altacast standalone with RadioDJ as it seems to handle metadata pretty well. A link to a download of Altacast can be found on my blog http://djgarybaldy.co.uk/free-automation-software/

If you should get stuck please feel fee to head over to the RadioDJ forums where we will be only too happy to help you. http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php

garybaldy72uk: if you're going to slag me off on twitter, facebook, etc again, then get your facts straight (as it's you who is being the troll!). i clearly aired my own views by using "imho" (something that seemingly cannot be done if it doesn't agree with your view) about installing it (and if licensing is an issue, there is nothing stopping it from using http://sqlite.org/ to provide the required functionality as many other free programs do). as for something that is claimed by you to be so much superior to everything, as a simple solution to get broadcasting (i.e. for noobs who don't know how to setup SQL, etc), then it's got a way to go and is why other solutions will still trump it irrespective of the possibly better feature set it provides over other source solutions.

and at no point did i tell DrChip's not to use RadioDJ and as can be clearly seen, i immediately pointed DrChip to looking at the help resources for said product - if that's telling someone to stop using it then you clearly are only seeing what you want to see.

so get your facts straight before you go off on another tirade based on false accusations! i don't care what people use as long as it's the right tool for the job - Winamp + Source DSP is for some, but not for all, hence why there is a large range of source clients available and i have been fully clear about that over the years.

and for someone who apparently quit here and all broadcasting forums, you seem to have a way of sticking your nose into things still.
