  • Confused, Troubled, Very Confused

I did everything as what the tutorial told me to at this board, and still when I check my status it says:

    Current Stream Information
Server Status: Server is currently down.

and the Nullsoft SHOUTcast Server Monitor says:
    **********************************************************************
    Event log:
    <05/22/02@17:08:24> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.8.9 (Mar 15 2002) starting up...
    <05/22/02@17:08:24> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini

<05/22/02@17:08:24> [source] listening for connection on port 8001

    and then this pops up....
05/22/02@17:24:08> [dest: 68.64.176.141] server unavailable, disconnecting
<05/22/02@17:24:08> [dest: 68.64.176.141] server unavailable, disconnecting

You are running the server (DNAS), but are you conencting a source to it with a Winamp/DSP Combo?

See the 'Shoutcast DSP Setup' section in...
TSGH -> How To Set Up An Internet Radio Station

That's the problem, I don't know what I'm doing now.

      I did read that tutorial, but now I'm stuck ^^;;

Try this. You have already done step 1 and 2 though.

        1) Download the DNAS. You can find it here: http://www.shoutcast.com/download/license.phtml
        2) Run the file you just downloaded, this will install the DNAS.
        3) Download the DSP. You can find it here: http://www.shoutcast.com/downloads/s...2b-windows.exe
        3) Run the file you downloaded and this will install the DSP into Winamp.
        4) In the Start menu find the "Edit SHOUTcast DNAS configuration" and change the password to something other then "changeme". You can also take this time to change your listener count and port base if you wish.
        5) Open Winamp and load the DSP (Ctrl + P > DSP/Effect > Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source)
        6) In the window that pops up go to "Output" highlight "Output 1" and press "Connection".
        7) For the address leave it at localhost if the DNAS is on the same machine, otherwise put in the IP of the machine with the DNAS.
        8) If you changed the port in step 4 then put the value you entered in here.
        9) Change the password to what you entered in step 4.
        10) Change the "Encoder" to 1.
        11) Click on the "Encoder" tab.
        12) Select "Encoder 1" and change the type to "MP3 Encoder"
        13) Set the "Encoder Settings" to the quality you want.
        14) Start the DNAS (Start > SHOUTcast DNAS > SHOUTcast DNAS).
        15) Play a song in Winamp and press "Connect" under the "Output" tab of the DSP.

Give that a try and if you get stuck let us know where and we'll get you straightened out.

Is the DNAS running? What do you have as the Address and Port in the DSP?

Yeah, both are running (i have my music playing at the moment)

I have localhost for the adress and 8000 for the port.

Before I asked for help, this was happening too when I put in my IP - http://68.64.176.141:8000

I can log into my SHOUTcast Status and stuff with that adress but I can't stream anything. Its just not working.

You are pressing "Connect" in the DSP right?
Try changing the Address to 127.0.0.1 and try that instead of localhost. The DSP and DNAS are on the same machine right?

Yep, their on the same machine....

:: tries what he said ::

now its flipping around with disconnecting and connecting....

and the DNAS isn't showing any status except the same thing.

Try setting address to your real IP then, 68.64.176.141
Do you have any errors in the DNAS log? Also what changes have you made to the DNAS conf file (sc_serv.ini)? Also if you have a firewall make sure it isn't preventing the DSP from connecting.

                    Tom

Okay, I have the DSP set to my IP and it says Not Connected, but the button says Disconnect (which supposedly dosen't work).

                      The DNAS says:
                      *******************************************************************************

                      Event log:

still, and I only changed the server part.

So your DSP looks like the attached image, you didn't change anything in the DNAS config and you don't have a firewall (i.e. ZoneAlarm, etc.) and the DSP still won't connect?

What version of Windows are you using? Do you mind if I try to connect (I don't need the password, if it is able to connect it will give me a password error)?
