I'm concered about the actual file size of the NSV. When encoding the first time I actually had the file size LARGER than the actual MPEG file... and I reduced the resolution from 640x480 to 320x280... so I was wonder, is their anyway to reduce the filesize of NSV encoded files so they don't eat so much space on my computer.

need more information, what codecs are you using when encoding to NSV.

probably vp3, this user doesnt sound like he knows what he's talking about so his first nsv was probably encoded vp3.

      probably.

How did you get a 'he' out of 'LADYmercury' -_-

Anyway, I encoded the files as such:

        Video: VP3.1 proper
        Audio: MP3 lame encoder

Its the only encoders I have avalible... for NSVate. If I had more codecs to actually work with I would have eleminated coming here and asking a question about this issue.

        Need not to be rude.

Dont worry about Inedible Bulk, he doesnt speak for everyone here.

          NSVate is a bit buggy.

          Try using Kens GUI www.scvi.net/gui.htm

You might also try lowering the encoding rate and see if that helps.

because i have seen several online males who like to play as females, in games that is, and so they keep their female game name in forums. so its male till proven female here, and my non-feminist English I teacher stated that it was ok to just say 'he' when its indetermanent, as he/she looks bad. Then I had some feminist teachers who said that my highly educated english one teacher was wrong. Please note the english one teacher was at a high class private school while 2+ were at low class public school. Thus the english one teacher wins.

            he.

Something else you could try is encoding the audio with AAC
( www.scvi.net/audio.htm ) and using the new VP6.2 video encoder plugin from ON2. ( www.on2.com/nsv_plugin.php3 ) Information on configuring the VP6.2 codec can be found here : www.scvi.net/vpguide.htm

Both the VP6.2 video codec and the AAC audio codec offer greater compression ability over the VP3 video codec and MP3 audio codec.

however if you want to use this in activex you must use vp6.1, and if you want it to work in moz too you must use vp5, and slavas needs to make an encoder for that, it's the only good middle ground.

If my memory serves me correctly, VP5 is hardware encoding only.

                      Plug-in For Hosting ActiveX Controls

                      Introduction
To complement the ActiveX control there is plug-in project that shares many of the same files. This allows browsers and environments that support the Netscape Plug-in Architecture to display ActiveX controls.

                      These include:

                      Mozilla 1.x
                      Netscape Navigator 3.x
                      Netscape Communicator 4.x
                      Netscape 6.x, 7.x
                      Opera
QT Toolkit for Windows (via the QNPlugin NPAPI wrapper classes)
                      CodeWeavers CrossOver Plug-in

                      Also listed at scvi.net

Works for VP3 - VP5 and VP6 ActiveX viewing with Mozilla.

yes lets please make it no better to use mozilla by integrating activex into it.

plus, you probably didn't read the rest of that page, you have to build your own copy of mozilla with it in there.

I use the latest version of Mozilla - and this plugin to view ActiveX without the need of "building" my own copy of mozilla with it in there.

                          I just installed the plugin.

Mozilla has gone through several version updates since this plugin was initially released.

i read it several times recently and couldn't find a way to do it.

frankly, one of the major reasons that mozilla is more secure than IE is the lack of the very vulnerable activex, and just putting it back in there defeats the purpose.*

*as various mozilla propeller heads have told me
